iZOMBIE Casts Final Series Regular; Writer-Director Rob Thomas Discusses What To Expect

We have a couple of news tidbits for The CW’s iZombie pilot. The DC/Vertigo adaptation has found its final potential series regular in British newcomer Rahul Kohli (EastEnders). He will play Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, who is described as “a high-energy, enthusiastic nerd with a brilliant mind that isn’t equipped with a filter or an off switch. He becomes Liv’s friend, partner and confidant. It’s a mutually-beneficial, yet unlikely, friendship that proves to be as solid as they come.” The pilot also stars Rose McIver as Liv, Malcolm Goodwin as unnamed police detective, David Anders as Blaine, Alexandra Krosney as Peyton, and Robert Buckley as Major.
Meanwhile, writer, director and producer Rob Thomas has offered new details on iZombie. Speaking with IGN, he says that The CW wanted a Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque series. While iZombie will not be a zombie apocalypse show, it will be a “fun, cool, smart, funny” female-led adaptation. Thomas also confirms that it is only a loose adaptation of the source material. Check out IGN’s full interview with Thomas for more. iZombie is targeting a slot on The CW’s Fall 2014 schedule.
