SUPERGIRL Might Be Included In THE FLASH And ARROW Universe, Suggests Greg Berlanti

While most of DC Entertainment’s television shows are separate from each other – due to different networks, among other things – fans have speculated that CBS’ upcoming Supergirl series may be integrated into the world of Arrow and The Flash. All three shows are executive produced by Greg Berlanti, and CBS co-owns The CW, the network which airs Arrow and The Flash. So, a potential crossover isn’t logistically impossible. And now, Berlanti suggests that Supergirl could very well co-exist with the other DC shows he’s involved with.

During a feature on Entertainment Weekly (via KSiteTV), Berlanti offered an update on Supergirl. EW’s profile confirmed that Colleen Atwood, who designed the costumes for The Arrow and Flash, is working on the Supergirl suit. Even more interestingly, Berlanti reveals that it is “possible” that the CBS series could exist in the same world as The Flash and Arrow. Below is the excerpt from EW’s profile on Berlanti.

Later in the afternoon at his other office on the Warner Bros. lot, Berlanti meets with fellow producer Ali Adler and Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood to go over looks for their upcoming revamp of Supergirl. The show will follow 24-year-old Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, and with a twist that that could melt fanboy brains, Berlanti says it’s possible this Supergirl could enter the worlds of Arrow and The Flash.

If this series inhabits the DC Universe established by The CW, then it would offer an entirely new element to it: the existence of aliens. While Arrow started off with a realistic environment, its second season and The Flash introduced the presence of superpowered beings – called “metahumans” in the latter. However, aliens have yet to be established in this world, and revealing the existence of not only Supergirl, but Superman (even if he doesn’t appear in the flesh), would be huge. Of course, this has yet to be the official plan, but most, if not all, signs are pointing to Supergirl being a part of the world created by Arrow. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
