SUPERGIRL Pilot Casting For Obscure DC Comics Villain Lumberjack
Casting is well underway for CBS’ pilot and potential series Supergirl. Melissa Benoist is set to play the titular superheroine, while Mehcad Brooks will portray a new iteration of Jimmy Olsen. Cat Grant, Hank Henshaw and Winslow Schott are also characters who have yet to be cast. And now, the casting process is ongoing for the first villain Kara Zor-El will fight in the series.
According to TV Line, Supergirl is currently casting the role of Lumberjack, who will be the antagonist of the pilot. Needless to say, Lumberjack is a particularly obscure villain in DC lore. According to DC Comics Database, he was a Canadian assassin who was a member of the group known as The Cartel. His only appearance was in an issue of Wonder Woman published in 1980. And that’s about all there is to know about him. His real name – if he has one – is unknown.
In Supergirl, however, Lumberjack will be a “big, burly monster of a man, who has battled Kara’s cousin in the past.” I think you all know who exactly that “super” cousin is. The villain also “shows up to ascertain her level of power, on behalf of an unseen superior.” The CBS pilot is looking for an actor akin to Game of Thrones‘ Rory McCann, who has an impressive height of 6’6.
More casting announcements should be made soon, so stay tuned for the latest news on Supergirl.
