Zack Snyder Directed This Scene in SUICIDE SQUAD

Zack Snyder directed the first two installments of the DC Extended Universe, Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. He’s currently shooting Justice League and is attached to direct a sequel. Additionally, the filmmaker has been a key creative influence in other DCEU films, producing or executive producing the rest of them. But it turns out he did play a slightly bigger role in Suicide Squad.

Speaking with Collider, Suicide Squad writer-director David Ayer reveals that Snyder had shot one scene in his movie. The scene in question contains a cool cameo from a DC hero.

Warning: The Following Contains SPOILERS From Suicide Squad.

So during the first act of Suicide Squad, a series of flashback scenes showed the main characters before their arrest. During Boomerang’s section, his attempt to rob a bank was thwarted by none other than The Flash (Ezra Miller). While a very brief scene, it was a pleasant surprise that further connected the film to the DCEU.

Flash first appeared in Batman v Superman, and he plays a much bigger role in Justice League. He will also star in his own movie in 2018.

During his interview with Collider, Ayer confirms that it was Snyder who filmed this particular scene. It was actually shot in London, where Snyder is filming Justice League, during the post-production phase of Suicide Squad. “Flash was always in the movie,” Ayer says, “we just got lucky because Justice League was happening and they had the uniform, they had the assets, so we were able to get that photography.”

In the comics, Captain Boomerang is one of Flash’s most familiar enemies. So, to see that glimpsed in Suicide Squad was a very nice touch. I would love to see these two come to blows again in 2018’s The Flash.

Suicide Squad is in theaters now.
