After being rumored for the role of Green Lantern off-and-on for years, Chris Pine reportedly entered negotiations to play Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman a few months back. However, another rumor recently claimed that this was a cover for Pine actually playing Hal Jordan. There have been many Green Lantern rumors recently, and with San Diego Comic-Con happening this weekend, fans are hoping for Warner Bros. to announce which actor will play the next Emerald Knight.
Now, another source has weighed in on the chances of Chris Pine playing Hal Jordan. According to Birth.Movies.Death, the actor has been offered this role – as well as Steve Trevor. Pine may have been given a chance to choose between the two roles – are the two movies competing for this talent? – and he is said to be leaning towards Green Lantern. Which makes sense, considering it would give Pine his own franchise.
However, BMD says that Pine has not signed on for the role yet. But WB wants him to come on stage during its SDCC panel to officially announce his casting. If that’s the case, then a deal will likely close or break very soon. There have been rumors and speculation suggesting that the studio wants to unveil its entire Justice League cast, and Green Lantern is currently the missing piece of the puzzle.
Hopefully, we’ll receive official clarification as soon as possible. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
