With Wonder Woman set to begin production this November, casting announcements are expected to be made within the coming weeks. Heroic Hollywood has shared a new rumor, which may reveal which two villains Diana Prince will face in her standalone movie.
According to the site, Warner Bros. is eyeing actors Sean Bean and Eva Green to play the antagonists in Wonder Woman. Bean would play Ares, the God of War, while Green would play the sorceress Circe. However, it is unknown if the two actors have been formally offered the roles or even if meetings have taken place. The rumor merely says that these are the actors being considered by the studio.
Ares is easily one of Wonder Woman’s most powerful and iconic villains. Based on the Greek god of the same name, the character is perhaps best known for his role in the 2009 Wonder Woman animated movie. Sean Bean is an inspired choice for this role. Let’s hope he doesn’t get killed off…again.
Another primary foe of Diana’s, Circe is an immortal sorceress who is also based on a Greek mythological figure. Her inclusion in Wonder Woman would continue to open up the magic/supernatural side of the DC Extended Universe, and again, Eva Green is a great fit for the role.
Again, Bean and Green aren’t locks for Wonder Woman just yet. Hopefully, we’ll receive official confirmation sooner than later.
Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters June 23rd, 2017. The fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Gal Gadot and Chris Pine. Patty Jenkins directs from a script by Jason Fuchs.
