BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Surpasses $500 Million at Worldwide Box Office

After opening in a few international markets on Wednesday, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opened worldwide on Friday. The film grossed $422.5 million globally in its opening weekend, the fourth biggest worldwide opening in movie history and the biggest global superhero debut ever.

Now, the film, has surpassed another milestone. It has been confirmed (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Batman v Superman has now grossed $501.9 million worldwide. This figure brings the movie a little over halfway towards the coveted $1 billion mark. An impressive feat for a movie that has been out for less than a week.

Domestically, Batman v Superman has made $193.3 million. It is expected to cross the $200 million mark today. Meanwhile, it has grossed $308.6 million internationally. The film also had the biggest-ever March Monday and Tuesday in North America, grossing $15M and $12.2M, respectively.

Warner Bros. global distribution chief Veronika Kwan Vandenberg had this to say about Batman v Superman‘s success. “We’re so proud that Batman v. Superman has become the must-see event film of the season for fans the world over. These incredible numbers are building momentum for not only this movie, but for the upcoming slate of DC superhero films.”
