SUICIDE SQUAD Star Jared Leto Calls Joker “A Role of a Lifetime”

Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad will introduce plenty of new villains in the DC Extended Universe. Easily one of the most anticipated additions is the new Joker, played by Jared Leto. The Oscar winner went full-on method acting for this role, which led to some…interesting interactions with fellow cast members.

Now, Leto has further discussed playing the Clown Prince of Crime. In an interview with Deadline, the actor had this to say about what to expect from Suicide Squad. “You can anticipate a lot of chaos and a hell of a lot of fun. And, I think, something completely different than other movies in the genre.” The trailers for this movie have already promised these things: a chaotic, fun movie that really stands out from other comic book films.

Leto then calls Joker “a role of a lifetime,” saying that he was honored to be the latest actor to contribute to the character’s legacy. “Really, it was an incredible honor to be asked to play the part. Look, there have been so many incredible performances of the Joker over the years. Then there’s the wonderful artists that have drawn this character and the writers that have written the Joker for 75 years and more through television and film and animated projects. I found it a real honor to be asked to continue the tradition. I’m so grateful that I had the chance, that’s my honest answer and my thoughts on it.”

Suicide Squad will have a big presence at San Diego Comic-Con next month, with the movie being present at WB’s Hall H panel. Will Leto make an appearance at the convention? He simply laughs and says, “You never know!” It is unknown which other cast members, if any, will appear at SDCC. But stay tuned for more news as we have it.
