Matt Reeves No Longer in Talks to Direct THE BATMAN

Last week, War for the Planet of the Apes‘ Matt Reeves entered talks to replace Ben Affleck as director of The Batman. Reeves was reportedly committed to tackling the DC film, and it was expected that negotiations would go well. However, it looks like they didn’t.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations for Reeves to direct The Batman have broken down. However, the site suggests that talks could resume at a later point. Warner Bros. is intent on releasing this movie no matter what, as the Batman franchise has long been one of the studio’s biggest. But, for now anyways, Reeves won’t be the one to direct the movie.

This move marks the latest hurdle in The Batman‘s development. It’s currently unclear when production will begin. Ben Affleck and Geoff Johns co-wrote the script, which was then rewritten by Chris Terrio. The superhero tentpole will also star Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.
