THE FLASH Season 4 Villain Won’t Be a Speedster
To the surprise of no one, The Flash will return for a fourth season on The CW this fall. Currently, plot details on next year are under wraps, as this season continues to focus on Barry’s mission to change the future and save Iris from Savitar. But now, we have a big hint towards the main villain of season four.
At PaleyFest this weekend (via TV Line), executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed that the big bad of The Flash season four will not be a speedster. This is a first for the show. In season one, Barry fought the Reverse-Flash. In season two, he faced Zoom, who was later transformed into the Black Flash. And this season, he’s dealing with Savitar. So, having a big bad who’s not another speedster should be a nice change of pace for the series.
But who should be the main villain of The Flash season four? Flash’s most famous non-speedster villain is arguably Gorilla Grodd, who has already been a recurring enemy over the course of the show. Plus, Captain Cold is kind of dead right now (unless you’re also watching Legends of Tomorrow), and the series has had a lot of Flash’s best villains in smaller roles. Could the show introduce a proper Rogues team – albeit without Cold – in season four? Or could a totally different character – from Flash lore or otherwise – be the big bad next year?
In other Flash news, Kreisberg confirms that the team has been planning Savitar’s identity for a while. As for when we’ll get hints, it sounds like we’ll get some in episode 18, where we’ll meet Abra Kadabra, a villain who happens to know Savitar’s identity. Meanwhile, in episode 19, Barry will travel to the future to discover what he needs to do.
