New YOUNG JUSTICE: OUTSIDERS Details Revealed at SDCC Panel

After years of hopes and petitions, a third season of Young Justice was finally announced last year. It was later revealed that the season, subtitled Outsiders, will premiere on a new streaming service from DC, alongside a live action Titans series. Now, at the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel today, we’ve learned some new details.
The showrunners revealed some new artwork from the series, featuring a bunch of returning and new characters. Joining the team are Spoiler, Arrowette, and new character Thirteen. There’s some other artwork – which hasn’t been officially released online – featuring Artemis, Nightwing, Aqualad, and Superboy wearing black stealth suits.

The Young Justice crew revealed some more details on Outsiders
  • DC’s streaming service has fewer restrictions than Cartoon Network. Thus, Outsiders will have the freedom to explore some more mature elements. Brandon Vietti says, “There’s more creative room here for more adult themes and more sophisticated and challenging stories for our characters. We have a little more room to write for that now.”
  • Outsiders is currently expected to run for 26 episodes, the same number of episodes as the first season and six more than the second. So far, 12 episodes have been written.
  • Greg Weisman talks about Young Justice‘s legacy theme, citing the growth of new and old heroes over generations in the DC Universe. “One thing we’ve done well in the show is the sense of the passage of time. Some characters grow up, some join the team, some leave, some join the Justice League. We built it into the DNA of the show. We move through time.”
