James Franco to Play X-Men Character Multiple Man in New Movie
20th Century Fox has put another X-Men spinoff into development, and this one may be the most unexpected yet. According to Deadline, actor James Franco is set to star in Multiple Man as Jamie Madrox, a mutant who has the ability to create clones of himself. Simon Kinberg is producing alongside Franco, with Wonder Woman scribe Allan Heinberg writing the script. No director is attached yet.
This marks Franco’s second Marvel Comics role, after playing Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Multiple Man was previously portrayed by Eric Dane in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.
Multiple Man is the latest addition to the ever-growing X-Men universe. In addition to the mainline movies and the Deadpool series, Fox is releasing New Mutants next year. Meanwhile, films starring X-23, Gambit, and the X-Force are in development.
