AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Tracking for Massive $200 Million+ Opening Weekend

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is arguably the most anticipated comic book movie event in history. The film unites the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and more heroes in the ultimate battle to save Earth. So, it’s been expected that the movie will be a colossal hit for the studio. Sure enough, initial tracking suggests so.

According to Deadline, early tracking says that Infinity War could open to more than $200 million domestically. This would easily give it the biggest April opening ever, and one of the biggest debuts in history.

However, with tracking this early, it’s extremely likely that the film will end up having a bigger opening. Deadline cautions that when a movie is tracking exceptionally well, the sky’s the limit on how big it’ll really be. For example, Black Panther originally tracked for $100-120 million, before earning a massive $242 million over its four-day opening. Other factors include first choice numbers (Infinity War has a 38, compared to Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ 22) and advance ticket sales (where the film broke a key record after a few hours).

We’ll have updated tracking numbers as we get closer to the movie’s release. Stay tuned.
