PRINCESS MONONOKE Retrospective Review
In the 14th century, the harmony that humans, animals and gods have enjoyed begins to crumble. The protagonist, young Ashitaka – infected by an animal attack, seeks a cure from the deer-like god Shishigami. In his travels, he sees humans ravaging the earth, bringing down the wrath of wolf god Moro and his human companion Princess Mononoke. Her attempts to broker peace between her and the humans brings only conflict. Official synopsis of Princess Mononoke When it comes to directors, everyone has a favorite. For some of you it’s Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) , others, it is the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Infinity War). For me, it’s director Hayao Miyazaki –…

Review – Attack on Titan season 3 Part 1
This is a review of the first half of season 3. If you’d like to catch up, or remind yourself of what happened previously, check out my review of season 1 HERE, and my review of season 2 HERE. Season 3 starts with Eren Jaeger and his friends joining commander Levi Ackerman’s squad against the giant human-eating titans. Everything looks to be as usual until the group gets targeted by a mysterious individual who wants to obtain Eren and Christa. With every zombie story, a conflict between human fractions is unavoidable. The way the anime adapts the original creator Hajime Isayama‘s version of this type of conflict is excellent. It…

Anime Review – THE PROMISED NEVERLAND
Recently, the first episode of the anime adaptation of The Promised Neverland was released. It’s an adaptation of an award-winning manga that I have heard much about (although I have never read it). So, I will write this review as someone going in blind. The manga started off as a Shonen Jump manga back in August 2016. The story focus on the girl Emma, and her two friends who all lives at the same orphanage. At first, their life feels pretty normal, with grown-ups taking good care of them, while they wait to be adopted. However, when Emma finds out the dark secret about her family’s estate, she and her…

REVIEW: FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST BROTHERHOOD
I took on Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood to review before others because it was one I readily had available. In Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood we follow the two alchemist brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric, who are searching for a way to obtain their original bodies. But during their quest, both of the young alchemists get involved in a larger event than they ever could have ever expected. I know that it might be cliché to say that Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is a favorite anime of yours considering its popularity in the anime community, but it ends up on many top lists for many reasons. The plot is intriguing to the very end. It brings up…

Review: TIGER & BUNNY
In the world of Tiger and Bunny, you are only allowed to be a superhero if you get the most views, fandom points, as well as a sponsorship that sponsor you. In this story, we follow the hero Wild Tiger, an aging superhero that is close to losing his sponsor and therefore his job. One day, his heroic life changes when his employers forced him to get a crimefighting partner. This anime is what would happen if X-Men and The Boys had a lovechild (although not as graphic or violent). It tackles the question of what’s right and what’s wrong, self-identity and all that jazz, and every answer they have…
