More From Gal Gadot on Playing a “Purer” Diana Prince in WONDER WOMAN

Production recently concluded on next year’s Wonder Woman movie, which will tell Diana Prince’s origin story in the DC Extended Universe. Star Gal Gadot previously said that the character will be much younger and more naïve than she was in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now, in a new interview, she elaborates on this.

Speaking with SciFiNow, Gadot reaffirms that Wonder Woman is very much a coming of age for Diana Prince, which serves as the heart of the film’s plot. When we met the character in Batman v Superman, she was “very experienced” and “dark.” Wonder Woman will explain why this is the case. “Something happened 100 years ago that made her not want to be involved in a man’s world,” says Gadot. “…She is very different to the Diana that you see in [Dawn Of Justice]. She is more naïve and she’s purer. She is a young idealist who does not yet understand the complexities of life.”

Gadot says that the action in Wonder Woman is “fantastic,” but that won’t be the big focus of the story. She then comments on the character’s goodness, which played a role in recruiting director Patty Jenkins. “Diana is so passionate about life and she is so passionate about love and truth and justice – and she is very inspiring, even to me. One of the reasons why Patty Jenkins agreed to do this movie was because of the core story.”

Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters June 2nd, 2017. The fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis, Lisa Loven Kongsli and Connie Nielsen. Patty Jenkins directs from a script by Jason Fuchs.
