SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Reaching $725 Million Worldwide This Week
Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming has been doing very well at the box office, easily surpassing the Amazing franchise in North America. And now, the latest reboot is passing them worldwide.
Per Box Office Mojo, Homecoming has grossed an estimated $314.1 million domestically and $410.8 million overseas as of this weekend. This brings its worldwide total to $724.9 million. The movie recently opened in Japan, while it hits China next month. So, the film’s theatrical run is still going strong.
Homecoming has now surpassed the previous Spidey flick, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ($709 million). It should also pass the first Amazing Spider-Man ($757.9 million) and likely even 2004’s Spider-Man 2 ($783.8 million). So, if Homecoming surpasses these movies, it will be the third highest grossing Spidey film of all time – and that’s with a $175 million budget, which is much lower than the last few movies.
Forbes believes that Homecoming will definitely surpass $780 million by the end of its run, and it could even outgross 2002’s Spider-Man, depending on its China results.
