WONDER WOMAN Surpasses $800 Million at Worldwide Box Office
Wonder Woman has been going strong for over two months in its theatrical run, boasting legs unlike any other recent comic book movie. Earlier this month, the film passed $400 million at the domestic box office. This weekend, it reaches one more key benchmark.
Wonder Woman has now cracked the $800 million milestone at the worldwide box office. Per Box Office Mojo, the movie has grossed about $404 million domestically and $396 million overseas. This brings its worldwide total to just over $800 million.
Currently, Wonder Woman is the eighth highest grossing movie of the year worldwide, while it’s #2 in North America. It’s also well ahead of every other DCEU film domestically, while worldwide, it’s just $73 million away from matching Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, unless it does jaw-dropping business in Japan next month, that’s not going to happen.
As for the superhero genre as a whole, Wonder Woman is now the highest grossing origin movie of all time, surpassing 2002’s Spider-Man. It is also the seventh biggest film in North America.
