AQUAMAN Actor Talks James Wan’s Vision – “STAR WARS Underwater”

The first DC movie post-Justice League will be Aquaman, a solo adventure for Jason Momoa’s King of Atlantis. The film has been undergoing production for several months now, while a short San Diego Comic-Con presentation was held a few weeks ago. Now, one of the movie’s actors has offered some insight.

Appearing on The Ara Show (via CBR), actor Ludi Lin talks about his role as Murk in Aquaman. He explains that the movie’s version of Murk will be “pretty different” from the comic book version, but still “pretty remarkable.” He compares it to his portrayal of the Black Ranger in the last Power Rangers movie.

Lin goes on to talk about the scope of Aquaman, saying that director James Wan compares his vision to Star Wars“The difference between Aquaman and the other superheroes in the DC Universe, is that it exists almost in a different world. James Wan, our director, is amazing. He’s described his vision as ‘Star Wars underwater’ because it is! All the physics are different, their weapons are different, the characters are very unique. It’s just super cool.”

It’s not rare to see big blockbuster movies compared to mega franchises like Star Wars, but in the case of Aquaman, it makes sense. The film will explore the underwater world of Atlantis, which is a vastly different setting from any other superhero movie. Wan has the opportunity to build a new cinematic world without being too tied down by the rest of the DCEU. And if it goes according to plan, then Aquaman should be a truly special movie.

Aquaman is scheduled to hit theaters December 21st, 2018. The sixth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Temuera Morrison, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Ludi Lin, Patrick Wilson, and Nicole Kidman. James Wan directs from a script by Will Beall.
