Gareth Evans in Talks to Direct a DEATHSTROKE Movie

Your favorite mercenary is hitting the big screen! According to The Wrap, The Raid director Gareth Evans is in negotiations with Warner Brothers to make a Deathstroke film. Actor Joe Manganiello is attached to star.

Deathstroke was supposed to be the villain in Ben Affleck’s The Batman [with Manganiello], but that version of the script was scrapped after Matt Reeves took over the project. For those who don’t know Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke is the most feared and respected mercenary in the DC Universe. He’s a master tactician, with Special Forces training, along with enhanced strength and speed. His elite training and enhanced physique make him a very dangerous combatant. He’s often been an antagonist of the Teen Titans and Batman. He’s also been an anti-hero and a member of the Suicide Squad.

Gareth Evans has said in the past that he wouldn’t do a PG-13 comic book movie. In PG-13 action, you hide the chaos and fill it with sound. That”s something I can’t do. Evans said in an interview with Uproxx. This meaning Deathstroke has a chance to be R-rated.

An R-rated Deathstroke movie from the people who brought us The Raid. Is this a dream? I certainly hope not. For more on Deathstroke and all things in DC Entertainment stay tuned.
