Over the years, The CW’s Arrowverse crossovers have featured the likes of Captain Boomerang, Vandal Savage, an alien invasion, and even Nazi doppelgangers from another Earth. Now, in this year’s crossover event, our heroes will be meeting a new ally.
Arrow star Stephen Amell announced at The CW’s Upfronts panel today (via TV Line) that the next Arrowverse crossover will introduce Kate Kane, aka Batwoman. She will fight alongside Green Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, and the Legends in another action-packed event. The crossover will air in early December.
But that’s not all. CW President Mark Pedowitz also confirmed that the crossover will formally introduce Gotham City to the Arrowverse. Gotham was namedropped on Arrow this season alongside Bruce Wayne. With DC’s Batman embargo on everything TV related outside of Gotham, fans have wondered if we’d actually see the city on The CW. So, while we may not see Batman himself anytime soon (if ever), this is the next best thing.
This will mark the first live action portrayal of Batwoman, who is one of DC’s most prominent LGBTQ+ characters. Meanwhile, Batwoman was rumored to be on Supergirl‘s second season back in the day, but it never happened.
