James Franco to Play X-Men Character Multiple Man in New Movie
20th Century Fox has put another X-Men spinoff into development, and this one may be the most unexpected yet. According to Deadline, actor James Franco is set to star in Multiple Man as Jamie Madrox, a mutant who has the ability to create clones of himself. Simon Kinberg is producing alongside Franco, with Wonder Woman scribe Allan Heinberg writing the script. No director is attached yet. This marks Franco’s second Marvel Comics role, after playing Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. Multiple Man was previously portrayed by Eric Dane in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. Multiple Man is the latest addition to the ever-growing X-Men universe. In addition to the…

FEATURE: Why Lois Lane Deserves a Solo Movie
The year is 2013; the movie, Man of Steel. As Krypton breathes its dying breaths, an alien craft approaches Kansas, its special cargo safely inside. As the fireball approaches Earth, the scene SMASHS to… Zod’s arrival, a Daily Planet staff gobsmacked, and a star reporter who alone can track down the hero Earth needs. Or at least, that’s what could have been, if only Man of Steel was a Lois Lane film. Amy Adams’ approach to Lois was refreshing, and what the movie does with her character is great. When we meet Lois, she’s on assignment in the arctic, covering the discovery of an object beneath the ice. Clark saves…

With that in mind, here’s 5 potential villains the Watctower Crew would love to see in the sequel. Brainiac For all his claim fame, Brainiac, one of Superman’s greatest foes, is not well known outside of comic fandom. Review: PLANET HULK (2010)
Films often have that one scene that defines the entire work. In Planet Hulk, that scene comes in the First Act, when Hulk is fighting Sakaar’s Red King and nearly gets killed. As Hulk lies in the dirt, bleeding out, we briefly see a monster with the vulnerability of Bruce Banner. Banner is nowhere to be seen in this film, but Planet Hulk is nevertheless concerned with showing us the Hulk’s cowardice. And over the course of the film, his experiences overcoming the past molds him into the people’s champion. Bursting with colorful animation and stellar voice acting, the film is a true feast for the eyes. But problems do…

Review: INHUMANS Episode 3: "Divide and Conquer"
It can only get better from here, folks. Right? Someone please tell me I’m right…Hello? Is that you, Existential Void? Don’t just hover there, SAY SOMETHING! “Divide and Conquer” picks up where Episode 2 left off. The royal family is still divided, Maximus is still making power grabs, and Lockjaw is *still* asleep. Oh, boy. The lack of any movement or development between Episodes 2 and 3 is striking. As it turns out, Gorgon’s surfer bro pals are ex-military, and the crew decide to stage an ambush for Maximus’ lackeys. Medusa continues her search for Black Bolt by shouting at an ATM to give her money, which eventually leads her to steal…

SHAZAM! Audition Tape Suggests a Shazam Jr. Connection
Director David F. Sandberg‘s Shazam! is quickly moving toward production. Previously, we’ve reported on the Billy Batson casting process, the lighter tone Sandberg wishes to achieve, and the film’s working title. Now we have word on another character in the movie, thanks to an exclusive from Omega Underground. A recent audition tape from actor Brendan Heard (which has since been taken down) contained line reads for a character named “Frank.” Frank’s lines indicate a disability, which leads most to conclude that this audition is for none other than Freddy Freeman, aka Shazam Jr. In the comics, Freddy was saved by Captain Marvel while drowning in a lake. He had a crippled leg,…

Review: INHUMANS Episode 2: "Those Who Would Destroy Us"
Oh, the Inhumanity! “Those Who Would Destroy Us,” you sure are something. After the pilot split everyone up and deposited the royals in Hawaii, Sly Spy The Iron Fist Guy takes the show in a fish-out-of-water direction. Black Bolt is causing crashes, stealing suits, and totaling police cars. Medusa is hitchiking on a tour bus and rocking the shaved head look. Gorgon is palling around with surfer bros. Karnak falls off a cliff and looses his sense of direction. Crystal is locked in her apartment. Lockjaw is sleeping (seriously). And Maximus… schemes, and stuff. So… um… that’s the episode. And that’s the problem. Episode 1 made a point to set-up…

Review: INHUMANS Episode 1: "Behold… The Inhumans"
Ahhhh, Inhumans! You’ve had the bumpiest ride to screens both big and small. Originally announced as a feature film, you got canceled by Kevin Feige only to be resurrected for the small screen and IMAX by that Sly Spy The Iron Fist Guy, Scott Buck. The IMAX presentation was widely panned by most critics, including our own. But how does the TV edit hold up? Have things improved? And does this eight episode series show any promise? Let’s find out… High from their perch on the moon, the Inhuman city of Attilan stands as a haven for Inhuman kind. Sorta. All is not well in the city, and unrest abounds…

Damon Lindelof’s WATCHMEN is Getting a Pilot Order
Alan Moore’s Watchmen is once again looking to be adapted, this time by Damon Lindelof. The Hollywood Reporter reports that HBO has ordered a pilot for the Lindelof project. The deal with HBO will also commission additional scripts for a potential series order. If the Lindelof project makes it before cameras, it will be the second adaptation of the beloved graphic novel after Zack Snyder’s 2009 film. Reviews were generally mixed for that film, with some reviewers considering the narrative to be too dense for a feature film. Hopefully Lindelof & co. will have success translating Rorschach and the gang to the small screen. Watchmen is currently in development. Stay tuned to…
