Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is finally hitting theaters in a couple weeks, and it is on track to be another mega-hit for the company. Early reactions say that it’s incredible, while early box office tracking suggests an opening well over $100 million. Now, the film has broken a pretty big record. After many years in various stages of development, New Line Cinema’s Shazam! movie is finally shooting. Director David F. Sandberg confirmed on Instagram that production is underway for the next DC film. The superhero story stars Asher Angel, Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Faithe Herman. Filming has been underway on Sony’s Venom movie for a few months, but there’s still a lot we don’t know about it. For example, who are actors Jenny Slate and Scott Haze playing in the film? Since 2015, Marvel Television has produced six shows for Netflix: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher. While all of these shows (except for Defenders) have been renewed for new seasons, Marvel’s future at Netflix has been unclear. Disney is launching its own streaming service next year, with a new Marvel show reportedly set there. And with Disney looking to acquire Fox (and thus, a majority of Hulu), the studio is expected to compete with Netflix. So, what does that mean for the Marvel shows? Last year, Disney XD and Marvel premiered a new Spider-Man animated series. Simply titled Spider-Man, the show goes back to Peter Parker’s roots as he learns to use his powers and become a hero. Now, the show’s story will continue for another year. Marvel has confirmed that Spider-Man will return for a second season. The new season will premiere sometime this year. So far, we’ve seen one trailer for Fox’s Deadpool sequel, which was just a Bob Ross parody video and only included a few seconds of actual movie footage. With the film now hitting theaters two weeks earlier, the marketing campaign is expected to ramp up very soon. Now, we may know when the next trailer is coming.
