The Legacy of THE AVENGERS
Superheroes have been around for almost 100 years. They are the American gods, mythology created to inspire and to entertain with their legend. Superman taking to the skies, showing us how to be our best self. Batman clinging to the darkness, showing that our imperfections are what make us who we are. These new gods have shaped fiction in the 20th century, so it’s only fitting that they also change the world of film. Superman made us believe that a man could fly. Batman showed us how to dance with the devil. Still, even with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man and 20th Century Fox’s X-Men, we never really saw the comics reach…

Per Box Office Mojo, the film has passed the first Ant-Man domestically, hitting $183.1 million this weekend, against the original’s $180.2 million. ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Falls to #2 in its Second Weekend
Ant-Man and The Wasp is now in its second weekend, where it faces off against new competitors Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and Dwayne Johnson’s Skyscraper. The Marvel Studios sequel still held its own, but it still had a larger-than-usual drop for a MCU movie. Per Box Office Mojo, Ant-Man and The Wasp grossed $29.1 million this weekend, putting it in second place behind Hotel Transylvania 3‘s $44.1 million. This gives the movie a 61.6% drop from its opening weekend. This puts it right behind Spider-Man: Homecoming (62.2%) as one of the largest second-weekend drops in the entire MCU. It’s not all bad news, however. Ant-Man and The Wasp reached $133.1…

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Shrinks the Competition with $75.8 Million Opening Weekend
Marvel Studios’ winning streak continues this weekend with its third movie of the year and 20th overall, Ant-Man and The Wasp. The sequel has been earning positive reviews from fans and critics so far, while it has been on track for a solid opening. Now, we have the initial estimates. Per Box Office Mojo, Ant-Man and The Wasp opened with $75.8 million this weekend, easily winning the top spot. While that’s a good number – it’s nearly $20 million more than the first Ant-Man‘s opening – this is one of the lowest MCU openings. Comic Review: ANT-MAN Volume 1: Second-Chance Man
In the comics, Scott Lang was always in the shadow of Hank Pym as Ant-Man. He has a history in prison, his divorce complicates his relationship with his daughter Cassie, and he was even dead for a while. But you can’t keep a good Ant down. Back in 2015, when the first Ant-Man movie came out, Marvel relaunched the character’s comic book series, putting Scott back into the spotlight, courtesy of writer Nick Spencer. And overall, it’s a successful attempt to revive Scott Lang…literally. “Second-Chance Man” is the first volume of this run, collecting issues 1-5, and it does a solid job of re-establishing Scott and his place in the…

ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Tracking for a $75 Million Opening Weekend
At this point, everyone knows that a Marvel movie is going to make a ton of money. That looks to be the case with its next title, Ant-Man and The Wasp, which has hit tracking boards this week. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ant-Man and The Wasp is tracking to gross $75 million in its opening weekend. If the movie sticks to that, it will have a noticeably bigger opening than the first Ant-Man, which debuted with $57.2 million in 2015.
