Idris Elba To Replace Will Smith As Deadshot In James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’
Last week it was reported that Will Smith would not be reprising his role as Deadshot in the upcoming James Gunn-directed sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad, due to ‘scheduling conflicts’ (gotta film that Bright sequel). Now The Hollywood Reporter, has revealed that no other than Idris Elba is in talks to replace Will Smith as the assassin turned anti-hero. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was originally set to begin production early next year for a 2020 release. But then, the James Gunn debacle happened. Fans have speculated about the film’s future, whether they delay the movie, rehire Gunn, or cancel it altogether. Now, a new report sheds light on Marvel’s new plans. Early this morning, old tweets from Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn resurfaced. The tweets were full of jokes about pedophilia, rape, and more. Naturally, this spawned much outrage on social media. Gunn responded with an apology explanation, saying that he has grown and doesn’t make jokes like that anymore.
