VENOM Sequel Moving Forward with Screenwriter
Despite negative reviews from critics and mixed reception from fans, Sony’s Venom was a big hit at the box office, grossing over $855 million worldwide on a $100 million budget. This secured the studio’s plans for a franchise, along with its Universe of Marvel Characters. Now, the sequel is officially moving forward. Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who worked on the first film, will return to pen Venom 2. Tom Hardy will return as the titular antihero, while Michelle Williams’ Anne Weying will be back. Sony Sets Release Dates for Two Untitled Marvel Movies
After the massive success of Venom, plans for Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC) are in full swing. The franchise will consist of multiple characters from the Spider-Man universe, with many films in various stages of development. Now, we know when two movies will be arriving. Sony has set two release dates for untitled Marvel-based movies: July 10th, 2020 and October 2nd, 2020. The studio is keeping the titles under wraps for now, but we have some ideas on what they could be. Morbius the Living Vampire, starring Jared Leto, is looking to start production in February. VENOM Director Talks Sequel Plans and Lack of White Spider Symbol; New Trailer Coming Soon
Sony showcased its Venom movie at San Diego Comic-Con last week, and since then, we’ve gotten a bunch of news tidbits surrounding the film. Here, we compile a few of them.
