SUICIDE SQUAD Sequel Finds a Screenwriter
The Academy Award-winning Suicide Squad was a big box office hit last year, and Warner Bros. is moving forward with expanding the franchise. David Ayer is returning to direct the Harley Quinn-centric Gotham City Sirens, while the studio is considering a spinoff starring Will Smith’s Deadshot. But a direct sequel to the first film is still on the way. Last we heard, the studio is considering several directors for Suicide Squad 2, including Oscar winner Mel Gibson, who even confirmed the early talks in a couple interviews. But while we wait for a filmmaker to be brought on board, the sequel has found a screenwriter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The…

Patty Jenkins Talks Telling WONDER WOMAN’s Origin, Tone and More
Recently, a group of journalists and bloggers visited Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins in the film’s editing bay. Collider was among the sites present for the interview. During the discussion, Jenkins goes into detail about her experience with making the movie, telling Diana Prince’s origin story, flashbacks to World War I vs. the present day, and whether there was any mandate regarding the film’s tone. Wonder Woman tells Diana’s origin story to the general public for the first time. Those who do know may consider it more “complicated” than the origins for other heroes. However, Jenkins doesn’t think so, and that any confusion should be cleared up when the movie…

At the Oscars last night, Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini and Christopher Nelson took home the award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for their work on Suicide Squad. It was the only comic book movie to win an Oscar this year. This also marks the first time that a DC Comics adaptation won an award since 2009, when The Dark…

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Wins Four Razzie Awards
While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice made a lot of money at the box office last year, the majority of critics didn’t like it and the general audience was so-so. It’s arguably the most polarizing comic book movie to date. In fact, the “cool thing to do” has become talking trash about the film and greatly exaggerating its flaws. It’s gotten to the point where it picked up several nominations at this year’s Razzie Awards, and now, the results are in. Batman v Superman picked up a total of four Razzie awards, tying with Hillary’s America as the biggest “winner” of the event. BvS won in the “Worst Remake, Spin-Off…
