SUPERGIRL: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON Coming to Blu-Ray Later This Year
Last fall, DC launched a brand new television superhero in Supergirl, which went on to become a fan-favorite show. After its first season on CBS, the series will move on to The CW in season two. And just in time for that premiere, season one will be available on home video. Supergirl: The Complete First Season will arrive on DVD and Blu-Ray on August 9th, 2016. New Details on ARROW’s Next Big Villain and Another New Character for Season 5
Casting is underway for the fifth season of Arrow, which will premiere next fall. Specifically, the season is looking to cast the new big bad, who star Stephen Amell says is not a metahuman. Now, we have details on another new villain, as well as a new recurring character. According to TV Line, Arrow is looking to cast a role currently named “Anton Church.” The villain is said to be inspired by The Wire‘s kingpin Stringer Bell (played by Idris Elba), while the casting breakdown’s physical prototype mentions Jason “Aquaman” Momoa. BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE Confirmed to Premiere at San Diego Comic-Con 2016
DC’s next animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke, will adapt one of the company’s most polarizing graphic novels. Set to hit home video in August, the film marks the first R-rated installment of DC’s line of animated movies. Now, we know when it will have its world premiere. Warner Bros. has announced that Batman: The Killing Joke will premiere at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 22nd. DOPE Helmer Rick Famuyiwa Signs On to Direct THE FLASH
A few weeks ago, Seth Grahame-Smith dropped out of the director’s chair for The Flash, which stars Ezra Miller as the Fastest Man Alive. Apparently, Warner Bros. decided that a more experienced filmmaker would be better suited for such a big project. Now, a new director has been hired. According to Deadline, filmmaker Rick Famuyiwa is set to helm The Flash. He will direct from a script written by Grahame-Smith, based on a story treatment by Chris Miller and Phil Lord. BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Ultimate Edition Blu-Ray Details and Trailer Unveiled
After much anticipation, Warner Bros. (via Collider) has finally confirmed details on the home video release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. In addition to the theatrical cut, the three-hour “Ultimate Edition”/director’s cut will be released. The R-rated cut contains 30 minutes of new footage, and it includes characters (such as Jena Malone’s) and Easter eggs not seen in the theatrical version. Batman v Superman will be available for digital download on June 28th, while the DVD, Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray 3D and Ultra HD Blu-Ray combo packs will arrive on July 19th. Film critics have been very negative in their reviews of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Complaints range from the film’s pacing to editing to tone to…well, just about everything. Actors from the movie, such as Henry Cavill and Ray Fisher, have defended the film despite the reviews. However, it looks like one cast member agrees with the critics.
