A new story DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins was confirmed earlier this month. Other than a 2014 release date, no other details are given. However, it is expected to focus on Mr. Freeze. Now, we have an update on the DLC, and it’s not one that would please Wii U players. We officially have a director for NBC’s planned Constantine pilot, which marks the small screen debut of DC’s John Constantine. According to Deadline, Doomsday and The Descent director Neil Marshall is set to helm the pilot, which was written by Daniel Cerone from a story by him and David S. Goyer. The potential series’ incarnation of Constantine is described as, “an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond.” Casting is underway for Constantine and three other characters, with plans for the pilot to appear on NBC’s 2014-2015 schedule. 

Warner Bros. will be pushing products for Godzilla and The Hobbit at the 2014 Toy Fair, but also set to be present are new DC Entertainment products. Via Variety, products for Batman, Superman, and other Justice League characters will be promoted at the event. Mattel will release new Batman toys such as the Lights and Sounds 10-inch Core Figures, Hot Wheels Batmobile Assortment, Batman basic figures, and others. Fisher-Price will also be expanding its DC Super Friends toyline for pre-schoolers. We have a couple of key news pieces for Batman vs. Superman today. First off, Comic Book Movie has learned that Matthew Goode – who previously worked with director Zack Snyder on Watchmen – met with Warner Bros. executives for an unspecified role in the Man of Steel sequel. Unsurprisingly, speculation regarding his potential character is ranging from Lex Luthor and Barry Allen to Metallo and Hal Jordan. The CW has added a slew of titles to its pilot order list this season, and with that, we have confirmation of two DC names. First, the network has confirmed that The Flash has been ordered to pilot. Grant Gusin reprises his role from Arrow as Barry Allen, while the supporting cast consists of Jesse L. Martin as Detective West, Rock Cosnett as Eddie Thawne, and Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow. The pilot’s script will be written by Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, and Andrew Kreisberg. The pilot is expected to be filmed in March. We’ve heard from costume designer Michael Wilkinson concerning his work on Batman vs. Superman before, but in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, he goes into further detail on his approach. Last week saw the Target exclusive debut of JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time, a DC animated feature described as a “stealth release”. While it was originally set to be available only at Target stores, the door was left open for a release everywhere else at some point. Now, Warner Bros. has confirmed that Trapped in Time will be made available at all other retail and online stores on May 20th. The movie has been well received by fans and critics, making this move less surprising. Henry Cavill is currently in Detroit preparing for Batman vs. Superman, which is expected to begin filming soon. Via Henry Cavill News, the Superman actor met with fans in the city, and offered a few bits of new info for the Man of Steel follow-up. He confirms that production is moving ahead as planned, despite rumors of a delay. The fan who described meeting Cavill and his trainer said that filming is actually underway in Pontiac. February 5th’s episode of Arrow, “Heir to the Demon”, will see the debut of Nyssa al Ghul on the hit CW series. Now, via IGN, we have our first photos of the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul in action. The thirteenth episode of the season will see Nyssa (played by Spartacus‘ Katrina Law) journey to Starling City, as she seeks to bring Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) back to the League of Assassins.
