Review: ROGUE ONE
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Directed By: Gareth Edwards Produced By: Kathleen Kennedy Simon Emanuel Allison Shearmur Yall have no idea how excited I was when Paul told us we could cover Star Wars. I was jumping up and down excited ok? Needless to say I am a huge Star Wars fan, have been for many years. So I have some bias. Ok maybe a lot more bias than most. But that’s mainly towards the expanded universe, which we might get to later down the road, but not today. Today we’re here to talk about Rogue One! Let’s talk about the characters first. We got some really awesome,…

DEADPOOL 2 Wins the Weekend with Estimated $125 Million Opening
Deadpool 2 finally opened in theaters this weekend, earning mostly positive reviews from fans and critics. While the film has generated good word-of-mouth and had a big opening, it was a little smaller than expected. Per THR, Deadpool 2 opened with an estimated $125 million, easily beating Avengers: Infinity War (which grossed $28.7 million this weekend). The sequel was originally tracking for somewhere in the $130-150 million range, but its Saturday gross was lower than anticipated. Also, this puts it behind the original Deadpool, which opened to $132.4 in 2016. Nevertheless, this is the second-biggest R-rated opening in domestic history, and it’s the third biggest opening of the year so far (behind…

Review: DEADPOOL 2
Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (aka Deadpool), brings together a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy of supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-traveling mutant, Cable. From the most interesting studio in the world, the one that killed Wolverine and is now property of Disney, comes Deadpool 2. The highly-anticipated sequel to 2016’s R-rated smash hit Deadpool has a new director in David Leitch (Atomic Blonde), a bigger budget to work with and a larger cast of characters, but is it able to hold a candle to its groundbreaking predecessor? Let’s find out. Sadly, I don’t think this sequel is as good as the first one. And yes, I’m aware that I gave the first a…

REVIEW: GREEN LANTERN (2011 aka The Bad One™)
Hey, WOBAMers. It’s your buddy Deadpool. What, you expected someone different? Like Pauly Boy? Michael Shrek? John Juan? Joke’s on you, nematodes. Isak was gonna write this one, but he had a prior engagement with my fists a Louisville Slugger, so I’m filling in on this one. Got it? Let’s go… Before I was this gorgeous red leatherman, I was lean and green. My name was Hal Jordan (God I love that name, it makes me sound so arrogant and full of myself). I was the best pilot out there. But before you could hear the microwave signal that the chimichanga’s ready, a purple alien (are we sure this takes place…

Marvel’s ETERNALS Movie Gets a Pair of Screenwriters
Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige recently confirmed that a film starring The Eternals is in development. Rumored to be the studio’s next big franchise, the film is one of the few post-Avengers 4 titles that we know about. The plot is largely unknown, except that the protagonist may be Sersi, a female Eternal. Now, the movie has found some screenwriters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, writers Matthew and Ryan Firpo have been hired to tackle the script for The Eternals. The scribes are best known for their spec script Ruin, which was at the top of the 2017 Black List and attracted the attention of Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot. The…

Production Update for BIRDS OF PREY Movie
DC Films is finally moving forward with its next Harley Quinn-centric movie, which is based on the Birds of Prey comics. Last month, filmmaker Cathy Yan was hired to direct the film, produced by and starring Margot Robbie. Not much beyond that is known, though Robbie recently teased an R-rating for the project. Now, we know when production will begin. According to Heroic Hollywood, Birds of Prey is on track to begin production in January. Location details are currently unknown. Additionally, the plan is to hire an all-female crew for the movie. If Birds of Prey shoots next year, then that’d put it on course for a 2020 release. DC has…

FEATURE: Five Storylines to Consider for DEADPOOL 3
Deadpool is already one of the biggest superhero franchises in recent memory, with the 2016 movie being a big hit and this summer’s sequel looking to be even bigger. While Deadpool will appear in X-Force, star Ryan Reynolds has sounded less optimistic about a third solo film, But if Deadpool 2 makes all the money (it will), then surely Fox will pursue another movie. If Deadpool 3 does happen, here are some storylines we’d love to see considered… Deadpool Corps In the comics, the Deadpool Corps is a group of Deadpools from various alternate realities. The team is brought together by the Contemplator, who tasks the group with defeating the cosmic entity known as the Awerness.…

FEATURE: A Hawkgirl Fancast for the DC Cinematic Universe
DC’s Hawkgirl has always been an iconic character for me, from seeing her as one of the starting seven in the animated Justice League TV show, to her iteration on The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow. I really would love to see Shayera Hol come to the big screen, either in her own solo movie, or perhaps in a future Justice League movie. I think she could bring an interesting dynamic to the team, especially with Wonder Woman as the current leader (in my opinion) of the team. Below I’ve got five actresses who I think could portray Shayera on the big screen. 5. Karen Gillian Karen is the safe choice…
