This week’s The Walking Dead was billed as the final episode for lead man Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln. Don’t worry, we won’t spoil how he was written off here. However, it looks like Rick does have a future in the franchise…but not in the way you’d expect. AMC has announced that Rick will headline three movies set in The Walking Dead universe. Gina Prince-Bythewood to Direct OLD GUARD Movie Adaptation
Today, GWW/Omega Underground has come out with yet another comic book related scoop. This time, it contains a director for the upcoming movie Old Guard, based on the Image comic book by the same name. Gina Prince-Bythewood has signed on to direct the movie, produced by Skydance. If this name sounds familiar for you, she is the same director that is attached to the supposed Silver and Black that Sony has in development, but as of right now is delayed. With Skydance both collaborating with Netflix and Paramount at the time, it’s, for now, uncertain who the distributor is going to be. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

Sony Picks Up SKYWARD Movie Adaptation from Director Brad Peyton
Another day, another comic book movie enters development. According to Variety, Sony Pictures has picked up the film rights to Image Comics’ Skyward, an original graphic novel by Lucifer showrunner Joe Henderson. Henderson is also writing the movie script, which will be directed by Rampage‘s Brad Peyton. Peyton gave the following statement on the announcement. “[Producer] Jeff [Fierson] and I are focused on making event films – regardless of budget or scope. Skyward is a big one. We’re very excited to deliver on what an anti-gravity movie should deliver on and be working with Joe Henderson on this.” Skyward depicts a reality where people have lived in low-gravity for 20 years.…

Andrew Lincoln Leaving THE WALKING DEAD in Season 9
AMC’s The Walking Dead has become notorious for killing off many of its primary characters over its eight-season (and counting) run. So much so, that fans have wondered if Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, the show’s protagonist, would eventually die. Comic creator Robert Kirkman shed doubt on the idea earlier this year, despite a scene on the show hinting otherwise. However, it looks like Rick will be leaving us sooner than later. Jamie Foxx Set to Star in New SPAWN Movie
Since 2015, Todd McFarlane has been planning a new movie adaptation of his comic book creation, Spawn. The film will mark McFarlane’s directorial debut, and it is set up at Blumhouse. Actor Jamie Foxx has been rumored off and on to take on the titular role; a few weeks ago, That Hashtag Show said he was formally offered the part. Now, it’s official.
