In an interview with EW, star Tom Hardy talks about shifting from supervillain to superhero (well, somewhat) for this latest role. Sony Bringing VENOM and SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE to San Diego Comic-Con 2018
Marvel Studios is skipping Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con next month, but the convention will still be getting some other movie goodness, courtesy of Sony Pictures. According to Deadline, Sony is bringing Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to Hall H. The panel is said to be scheduled for Friday, July 20th at 6:15 PM. No details on who from those movies will be that panel, or how much new footage to expect. It’s also easy to speculate if Sony will make any further announcements on its Marvel Universe, which includes forthcoming films like Silver & Black and Morbius the Living Vampire. Jared Leto to Play Morbius the Living Vampire in Movie Directed by Daniel Espinosa
Among the Marvel movies in development at Sony has been Morbius the Living Vampire, based on the Spider-Man villain/antihero of the same name. The film recruited screenwriters Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama a few months ago, but since then, we haven’t heard a lot of news about it. Now, we have some big news. Per Variety, Oscar winner Jared Leto is set to play Morbius in the movie. Safe House filmmaker Daniel Espinosa is attached to direct. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing alongside Lucas Foster. Spider-Man Character Silk Getting Her Own Movie at Sony
Sony has been working on building its own Marvel Universe, using characters based on Spider-Man lore outside of its deal with Marvel Studios. Venom kicks things off this fall, with Silver & Black (starring Silver Sable and Black Cat) in development. Movies starring Nightwatch and Morbius the Living Vampire are also in the works. Now, we can add a new title to the slate. According to trades such as The Wrap, Spider-Man supporting character Silk is getting her own movie. Sony Officially Removes SILVER & BLACK From Release Schedule
Sony previously set Marvel spinoff Silver & Black for a February 8th, 2019 release, with the plan to shoot early this year. However, production was suddenly delayed, with director Gina Prince-Bythewood recently saying that they’re still focused on on the script. So, this threw the release date into question. Sure enough, Sony has changed up the schedule. Sony confirmed today that Silver & Black will not meet its February 2019 date, and the film is currently undated. VENOM Actor Woody Harrelson Teases Larger Role in Potential Sequel
A while back, we heard that Woody Harrelson had joined the cast of Sony’s Venom movie. His exact character has been kept under wraps, which led to a lot of rumors/speculation that he’s playing Cletus Kasady, aka Carnage. Now, the actor has given a new hint at his role. New VENOM Trailer Finally Reveals the Symbiote
At CinemaCon this week, Sony Pictures premiered a new trailer for its Venom movie, starring Tom Hardy as the iconic Marvel villain/antihero. The trailer is packed with new footage, but most significantly, it finally gives us a first look at Venom in all his glory. Needless to say, he looks fantastic.
