FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×10 – “Borrowing Problems From the Future”
The Flash (3×10) – “Borrowing Problems From the Future” Written by: Grainne Godfree & David Kob Directed by: Millicent Shelton Welcome to Season Three, part two! And after a new precap and an actual recap we open on Barry and Iris. A month has passed since we last saw our friends and Barry is understandably disturbed by his glimpse of the future. It’s caused more than a few nightmares it seems and Iris has taken notice, when she asks if he wants to talk about it Barry pulls out a classic superhero move: he deflects and turns the conversation to unpacking before they’re interrupted by a furniture store…

SUPERGIRL Mid-Season Recap: Season 2
So, with 2016 in the books and 2017 off to an incredible start it’s time to discuss the sophomore season of Supergirl. If you’ll recall I wrote the recap of the first half of season one and was pretty positive about the show to that point. To set the table, I thought they did a damn good job of following up on the first half of Season One despite a few episodes feeling a bit odd down the stretch. Season Two picks almost literally when they left off, with Kara and J’onn inspecting the pod that crashed to earth. It turns out our new friend was a Daxamite named, Mon-El. …

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×09 – “The Present”
The Flash (3×09) – “The Present” Written by: Lauren Certo Story by: Aaron & Todd Helbing Directed by: Rachel Talalay We open somewhere in India and this is either the cold open to Stargate SG-1 or a flashback to how Julian became Alchemy. Then we’re in STAR Labs where HR has decorated to the point that somewhere someone at Central City Power has noticed. Gotta give it to the Flash in the era of “Happy Holidays” they actually go all in with the “Merry Christmas.” So, after the gang recaps what they have on Savitar, zilch for those of you keeping score, Barry decides that maybe they…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×08 – “Invasion!”
The Flash (3×08) – “Invasion!” Written by: Aaron & Todd Helbing Story by: Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg Directed by: Dermott Downs Please note: I am not reviewing the crossover as whole, this is a review of the Flash episode. So after Supergirl does just a bit over the bare minimum of crossing over required for people not to think this was all false advertising we open on Barry and Oliver getting their asses kicked by pretty much the rest of the cast. Then comes the obligatory jump back in time so we can see how we got here. So for all intents and purposes the episode…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×07 – “Killer Frost”
The Flash (3×07) – “Killer Frost” Written by: Andrew Kreisberg & Brooke Roberts from a Story by: Judalina Neira Directed by: Silent Bob We pick up pretty much where we left off with Savitar getting ready to use his official Assassin’s Creed hidden blade to kill Barry Connor Kenway style! (Oh you like Ezio? That’s fine, but Connor’s my favorite.) Luckily for Barry, Joe is able to fight off Savitar’s lackeys and fire off enough rounds to distract Savitar so he takes Barry on a run at his speed which also allows him to do some villain posturing. “I’m the God of the Speed Force. I’m faster…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×06 – “Shade”
The Flash (3×06) – “Shade” Written by: Emily Silver & David Kob Directed by: JJ Makaro So we start this week with Wally telling Joe about his dreams of being Kid Flash. Joe of course notices how this is pretty much exactly what happen to Magenta to the detail. Wally thinks it’s totally different because… Because it’s happening to him, I guess. At the station, Barry tries to make nice with Julian and it goes as well as you’d expect. Good thing DA Horton shows up and makes Barry essentially Julian’s underling in the Meta-human Task Force. I’m sure this won’t lead to tension between the two. Speaking…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×05 – “Monster”
The Flash (3×05) – “Monster” Written by: Zack Stentz Directed by: C. Kim Miles Alright gang, time to actually get this season kicked into gear and I don’t know about you but nothing helps me get kicked into gear quite like a healthy breakfast. Barry Allen seems to agree, but we all know his need for food intake is pretty high but he also an ulterior motive. As you’ll recall, Barry moved out of Joe’s house for the sake of his romantic life, Joe’s loss is Cisco’s gain(?) and they’re now roomies for the time being at least. Now back when I had roommates if I was getting…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×04 – “The New Rogues”
The Flash (3×04) – “The New Rogues” Written by: Benjamin Raab & Deric A Hughes Directed by: Stefan Pleszczynski Hey! Here’s something we haven’t had in a while. A flashback to the night of the Accelerator Explosion to introduce our villain of the week. This week it’s the cliché Bonnie and Clyde couple… Sam Scudder and Rosalind Dillon. That’s fine, it’s not about where you start but where you finish so I’ll give a pass to a pair of prominent Flash Rogues being introduced this way, but it’s a short pass. While Sam is trying on suits and Rosalind is looking on approvingly in walks someone else I…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×03 – “Magenta”
The Flash (3×03) – “Magenta” Written by: Judalina Neira & David Kob Directed by: Armen V Kevorkian We return this week to a presentation of Barry Allen being the kind of employee that drives supervisor to drink. As this continues I find myself more and more in Julian’s corner. Work your scheduled shift, Assh-… Allen! Then Barry races off to a date with Iris (with a neat little call back to his date with Linda in season one.) Then he and Iris head off to dinner with the caveat that she wants a date with Barry Allen, not the Flash. That goes about as well as you’d expect…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3×02 – “Paradox”
The Flash (3×02) – “Paradox” Written by: Aaron & Todd Helbing Directed by: Ralph Hemecker Gotta give Barry credit, judging by what we saw at the end of the last episode you still can show self-awareness by starting this week with “I made a big mistake.” Yes you did, God man you were a nerd growing up you had to have seen “City on the Edge of Forever” at least once. Small changes in history make bigger changes in present day and they compound on each other. So Barry runs to Starling City, or is Star City now? I haven’t watch Arrow since early season three. And…
