FEATURE: Five R-Rated Marvel Movies We Want to See
On the big screen, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become known for making family-friendly movies, with every single movie being PG-13. With Disney distributing these movies, fans have not expected R-rated content to ever come from this franchise – save for a few shows on Netflix. However, with Disney’s acquisition of Fox, that may be about to change. Disney CEO Bob Iger recently said that the studio is open to keeping the Deadpool franchise R-rated, and there is interest in other Marvel movies geared towards adults. This would allow Marvel Studios to explore more mature and complex themes on film. So, if Disney and Marvel are going to release any…

HBO’s WATCHMEN Pilot Expected to Shoot Next Year
HBO has been developing a television version of Watchmen for a couple years. Back in 2015, Zack Snyder (who directed the film adaptation) was talking to the network about bringing the story to TV. Fast forward to this past summer, and Damon Lindelof is hired to oversee the potential series, with Snyder no longer involved. Now, we have a promising update. According to That Hashtag Show, the Watchmen pilot is moving full speed ahead. Production is expected to begin in March 2018. This would mean that casting news should be coming soon. (For what it’s worth, John Cena keeps posting Doctor Manhattan pictures on Instagram…) Hopefully, we’ll be hearing more…

It’s been speculated that the change in actors will take place in Flashpoint, as it’s been reported that Warner Bros. will explain Affleck’s exit in an upcoming movie (something Affleck himself is interested in). Basically, it looks like Affleck’s days as Batman are numbered. It’s unclear if Reeves wants to cast…

AQUAMAN Director James Wan Says There’s Only One Main Antagonist
DC Films’ Aquaman will feature three of the character’s enemies: Orm/Ocean Master, Black Manta, and King Nereus. Fans speculated that all three villains would be the main antagonists in the movie, not unlike Spider-Man 3. Fortunately, that isn’t the case. Director James Wan clarifies to Entertainment Weekly, saying that the movie doesn’t actually have three main villains. “This is what I’ll say: I don’t have three villains. I think that’s ridiculous! I would never go into an origin movie with three villains. We don’t even know the main character let alone the world and its antagonist. I believe in taking baby steps.” That antagonist is Orm, played by Patrick Wilson.…

This means that the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool are finally coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But before the deal, Fox had a slew of X-Men films and spinoffs planned. How will they be affected by the deal? The Hollywood Reporter suggests that the X-Men slate is currently in flux as the franchise is integrated into the MCU.
