AQUAMAN Casts Randall Park During Reshoots
DC Films’ Aquaman wrapped production last year, but the movie is currently in the final stages of reshoots. During these reshoots, it turns out that a new character has been added to the cast. Director James Wan announced on Twitter that actor Randall Park has joined Aquaman as Dr. Shin. In the comics, Dr. Stephen Shin is a scientist who is very knowledgeable of Atlantis, and he helps young Arthur Curry to develop his powers. He later betrays Arthur while trying to find the location of Atlantis. It’s unknown exactly how much of this will be adapted into the movie. So happy and fortunate to be finally working with this man,…

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Outpacing Marvel’s Last 7 Movies COMBINED in Advance Ticket Sales
Avengers: Infinity War has already been expected to be a massive hit. Ticket presales have been through the roof, trailer views have been incredible, and the film is already tracking for a $200 million+ opening. Now, the movie is setting a new record on advance ticket sales. Fandango has announced (via BoxOffice Pro) that Infinity War is easily on track to become its highest preseller in the superhero genre, more than doubling Black Panther. It’s also the biggest April preseller. But most importantly, it is outpacing the advance ticket sales for Marvel’s last seven movies *combined*. When you consider how big Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther were in…

Dwayne Johnson Says BLACK ADAM Movie Could Start Production Next Year
It’s been a while since we heard anything about DC’s Black Adam movie. Originally attached to play the character in Shazam! for nearly a decade, Dwayne Johnson will now headline his own film. Screenwriter Adam Sztykiel was hired to tackle the script last year, while a director hasn’t been brought on yet. However, we now have a hopeful update. Speaking with Yahoo!, Dwayne Johnson says that we could see Black Adam sooner than later. “The script came in, it’s great, we’re working on it. If things come together in the way we anticipate them coming together, that feels like a 2019 movie.” So, if the film starts production next year,…

Review: CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER
A superhero film set in during World War II, a hero with a big heart, and the drive to help anyone that he can. In a nutshell that’s what I love about Captain America: The First Avenger. I would stop there, but I can’t end this review in just 37 words. The First Avenger tells us the story of Steve Rodgers (Chris Evans), a man who wants to “help the little guy”. He tries to enlist in the Army and fight in the war, but he’s too frail, sickly, and weak to do anything. Luckily, he gets a chance; a chance at being the world’s first Super Soldier. He becomes…

BATGIRL Moving Forward with New Screenwriter
A Batgirl movie was announced last year when Joss Whedon was hired to write and direct. However, two months ago, Whedon dropped out, saying that he couldn’t crack the story. Around that same time, it was reported that Batgirl would go on the backburner as DC shifts focus to its A-list heroes. However, the film is moving forward with a new writer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Christina Hodson has been hired to take on Batgirl. In addition to the Bumblebee movie, Hodson previously wrote a script for Birds of Prey, a spinoff featuring many female DC characters. That was looked at as one of several Harley Quinn-centric spinoffs…

Movie News Bits: WONDER WOMAN 2, DEATHSTROKE, NEMESIS, FANTASTIC FOUR, RED SONJA
Welcome to our new installment of Movie News Bits, where we cover a few smaller news pieces in one post. Today, we have a couple DC movie updates, some progress on the Nemesis film, some Fantastic Four fancasting, and movement on a new Red Sonja movie. At an IMAX earnings call, CEO Greg Foster announced that Patty Jenkins will direct select sequences with IMAX cameras for the Wonder Woman sequel. Exact details on the IMAX sequences’ length are currently unknown. It has become a frequent technique to shoot blockbusters at least partially in IMAX. However, it’ll be bigger than ever with this month’s Avengers: Infinity War, which is shot completely with…

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Tracking for Massive $200 Million+ Opening Weekend
Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is arguably the most anticipated comic book movie event in history. The film unites the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and more heroes in the ultimate battle to save Earth. So, it’s been expected that the movie will be a colossal hit for the studio. Sure enough, initial tracking suggests so. According to Deadline, early tracking says that Infinity War could open to more than $200 million domestically. This would easily give it the biggest April opening ever, and one of the biggest debuts in history. However, with tracking this early, it’s extremely likely that the film will end up having a…

Rumor: JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Will Feature This DC Comics Team
It’s been a while since we heard anything on DC Films’ Justice League Dark. With the movie struggling to lock down a director, screenwriter Gerard Johnstone was hired to work on the script. Now, a new rumor suggests that the film will feature a fan-favorite group from DC Comics lore. According to That Hashtag Show, a recent draft shows a visit to the Oblivion Bar, a pocket dimension place reserved for DC characters with magical abilities. The bar is run by Eddie Deacon. But what’s more interesting is that the draft consists of a cameo from the Shadowpact, another supernatural team. The lineup in the script consists of Detective Chimp,…

Over the years, Joaquin Phoenix has been attached to many different comic book movie roles. The Academy Award nominated actor has been rumored to play everyone from Doctor Strange to Lex Luthor to Bruce Banner. Currently, Phoenix is said to be in negotiations to star in Warner Bros.’ Joker origin film, directed by Todd Phillips and possibly produced by Martin Scorsese. Now, the actor has addressed the potential for the role, as well as joining the superhero genre. In an interview with Fandango, Phoenix refuses to confirm or deny whether he’s playing Joker. He simply says that he could be an “interesting” character to play. With Phoenix’s history of turning…
