THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN Release Date and Bonus Features Announced
DC’s next animated title is The Death of Superman, the latest adaptation of the Man of Steel’s deadliest battle in comics. Today, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment confirmed that the movie hits digital stores on July 24th, with the Blu-Ray, DVD and 4K releases arriving on August 7th. GOTHAM Showrunner Developing Alfred Pennyworth TV Show at Epix
It was recently confirmed that Fox’s Gotham will return for a fifth and final season next year. But showrunner Bruno Heller has already lined up his next big project, and it too is based on Batman lore. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Heller is developing the prequel series Pennyworth at Epix, which has made a 10-episode straight-to-series order. Marvel’s ETERNALS Movie Gets a Pair of Screenwriters
Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige recently confirmed that a film starring The Eternals is in development. Rumored to be the studio’s next big franchise, the film is one of the few post-Avengers 4 titles that we know about. The plot is largely unknown, except that the protagonist may be Sersi, a female Eternal. Now, the movie has found some screenwriters. Production Update for BIRDS OF PREY Movie
DC Films is finally moving forward with its next Harley Quinn-centric movie, which is based on the Birds of Prey comics. Last month, filmmaker Cathy Yan was hired to direct the film, produced by and starring Margot Robbie. Not much beyond that is known, though Robbie recently teased an R-rating for the project. Now, we know when production will begin. According to Heroic Hollywood, Birds of Prey is on track to begin production in January. Location details are currently unknown. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Shifting to Summer for Season 6
Despite being one of the network’s lowest-rated shows, ABC renewed Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a sixth season. The new season will run for 13 episodes, which is a much smaller order than the usual 22. While it was originally reported to be held until midseason, it turns out we’re gonna have to wait even longer. ABC announced at Upfronts today (via TV Line) that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. won’t be back until summer 2019. Later this year, DC Entertainment will launch its long-awaited streaming service, DC Universe. The platform will be home to several original shows, such as Titans, Swamp Thing, Metropolis, and the animated shows Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders. Now, a sixth show has been revealed. DC has announced that a Doom Patrol series is in development at DC Universe. The service made a 13-episode straight-to-series order. Production will begin this year for a 2019 release. Avengers: Infinity War has held the top spot at the box office for the third weekend in a row, to the surprise of no one. Meanwhile, the Marvel Studios epic has set some new records.
