Following the success of this summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, Marvel and Sony are quickly putting together a sequel. Tom Holland will reprise his role as the Web-Slinger, while director Jon Watts is in talks to return. Now, the sequel is about to lock down screenwriters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Homecoming writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are in final talks to return for the sequel. The writing duo were among the six screenwriters who worked on the first movie. Now that The Defenders is streaming, Netflix has begun promoting its next Marvel series, The Punisher. We saw a teaser trailer last week, attached as a post-credits scene for The Defenders finale. This week, we have a new promo, along with episode titles. The show’s Twitter account sent out a bunch of tweets containing messages in Morse Code. The mid-credits scene in 2015’s Ant-Man set the stage for Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne taking on the mantle of The Wasp, taking after her mother Janet. This year has seen some major movements on Captain Marvel, starring Brie Larson as Marvel Studios’ first lead female hero. Directing duo Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck were hired to take the helm, while Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury.
