The Boys, Riverdale, Smallville Today in our TV news roundup we have word that Karl Urban will star in Amazon’s The Boys. The news is coming from THR, and the show has already been greenlit for a series. For those of you who don’t know, The Boys is set in a darker superhero world than we are familiar with. The story focuses on a group of vigilantes known as The Boys, heroes that takedown corrupt heroes. A premiere date has not been announced yet, but we should hear more in the coming months. Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is arguably the most anticipated comic book movie event in history. Rumor: JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Will Feature This DC Comics Team
It’s been a while since we heard anything on DC Films’ Justice League Dark. With the movie struggling to lock down a director, screenwriter Gerard Johnstone was hired to work on the script. Now, a new rumor suggests that the film will feature a fan-favorite group from DC Comics lore. According to That Hashtag Show, a recent draft shows a visit to the Oblivion Bar, a pocket dimension place reserved for DC characters with magical abilities. The bar is run by Eddie Deacon. We have some good news for gamers who have been looking forward to the new Spider-Man title. Sony and Insomniac Games have announced that the game will be released on Friday, September 7th, exclusively for PlayStation 4. The game was originally announced in 2016, so fans have been waiting a little while. But with the amount of time being dedicated to getting this right, it should be worth the wait. The CW recently confirmed that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will return for a fourth season next year. We already knew that Matt Ryan’s John Constantine has been upgraded to series regular next season. And now, another character is getting a promotion. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jes Macallan’s Ava Sharpe will be a regular on Legends of Tomorrow next season. An agent-turned director of the Time Bureau, Ava was originally in opposition to the Legends, but later became a love interest for Sara Lance. Over the years, Joaquin Phoenix has been attached to many different comic book movie roles. The Academy Award nominated actor has been rumored to play everyone from Doctor Strange to Lex Luthor to Bruce Banner. Currently, Phoenix is said to be in negotiations to star in Warner Bros.’ Joker origin film, directed by Todd Phillips and possibly produced by Martin Scorsese. Despite the success of Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange, we’ve had very little news on a potential sequel. Director Scott Derrickson is reportedly attached to return, while the Sorcerer Supreme is playing a key role in Avengers: Infinity War this year.
