Geoff Johns Reaffirms The Optimistic Approach To DC Films
The DC Extended Universe was in a pretty rough spot. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad split audiences, and many were wondering if Warner Bros. should just try again with a reboot. Some said the movies are too dark, depressing, and an overall grim look on the DC world. Warner Brothers needed to look inward and see what needed to change. At E3 today, Sony debuted a new gameplay trailer for its highly anticipated new Spider-Man game, which is a PlayStation 4 exclusive. WONDER WOMAN Retains #1 Spot in Second Weekend, Passes $400 Million Worldwide
Wonder Woman has proven to be an indisputable win for the DC Extended Universe. The film grossed $103 million in its opening weekend, the biggest opening ever for a female-led superhero movie and for a female-directed movie. Wonder Woman has also received extremely positive reviews from critics, while audiences appear to love it more than any other DCEU film. Now, Diana Prince’s winning streak continues. Per Variety, Wonder Woman has held on to the #1 spot in North America this weekend with an estimated $57.2 million. BLACK PANTHER Teaser Trailer Released
The marketing campaign for Marvel’s Black Panther has begun. Following the release of the teaser poster, the studio just debuted a teaser trailer during Game 4 of the NBA Finals. JUSTICE LEAGUE Multiverse Action Figures Revealed
Mattel is creating action figures based on DC Films’ Justice League, as part of its DC Multiverse line. Courtesy of the “Join the League” website, we now have a first look at these figures. The line will have figures of all six League members – Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg. Additionally, there’s a toy of the Batmobile for this line. BLACK MIRROR's Hannah John-Kamen Joins the Cast of ANT-MAN AND THE WASP
Marvel Studios will begin production on its latest sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, later this summer. Director Peyton Reed returns for the follow-up, along with stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, and Michael Peña. Rudd co-wrote the script with Gabriel Ferrari. The CW Announces Fall Premiere Dates for New Arrowverse Seasons
All four of The CW’s current DC shows – Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow – have been renewed for new seasons next fall. Anticipation is high for the next wave of DC TV, especially since all four seasons ended on exciting cliffhangers. Now, the network has announced the premiere dates of its fall slate, including its superhero shows. Supergirl launches the network’s fall lineup with the premiere of its third season on Monday, October 9th at 8 PM EST.
