Retrospective Review: Doctor Strange
Doctor Strange(2016) Directed By: Scott Derrickson Produced By: Kevin Feige Written By: Scott Derrickson, C.Robert Cargill, Jon Spaihts Hello again! I’m here to talk about Doctor Strange today as part of our 20 Days of Infinity War Series. Click here for more WOBAM awesome. I’d like to start off with two disclaimers. One, I’m a huge fan of Benedict Cumberbatch. I absolutely stole this review from John when we were given the schedule, but he knows why so THANKS JOHN. Two, I understand the casting of Tilda Swinton was controversial, but I won’t be addressing that matter. If you’ve read my reviews before, I’ve addressed the fact that I don’t have any background…

FEATURE: Five Villains We’d Love to See in Future AVENGERS Sequels
To date, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced many iconic villains from the comics, such as the Avengers saga. The first film pitted Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against Loki, the second film saw them fight Ultron, and the third and fourth films will see them defend Earth against Thanos. But what happens afterwards? Thanos is THE big bad of the MCU so far, meaning that the next main villain has a lot to live up to. Here, we list five villains that we’d love to see in Avengers 5 or another sequel. Norman Osborn Of course, Norman Osborn is best known for being Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis, the Green Goblin. But outside of Goblin, Norman has been…

Review: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2
This review is part of our 20 Days of Infinity War. Click here to for more WOBAM awesome. – The sailor said “Brandy, you’re a fine girl (you’re a fine girl) What a good wife you would be (such a fine girl) Yeah your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea” The first Guardians of the Galaxy came out of Knowhere (Someday I will stop recycling that line, but that day isn’t today). Had you heard of the Guardians before the movie was announced? I sure hadn’t. I bet most movie goers hadn’t. But now here we are, on the cusp of their third theatrical outing in Avengers: Infinity War. Dang.…

Review: CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
This review is part of our 20 Days of Infinity War. Click here for more WOBAM awesome. – No franchise film has ever reset the board quite like The Winter Soldier. In little more than two hours time, Bucky was back, SHEILD was obliterated, Fury was on the run, Steve’s loyalty was questioned, Natasha’s ledger was made bare, and people we trusted were proven the enemy. It was an exciting time to be a Marvel fan, and an even more exciting time to be a movie fan. Joe & Anthony Russo came virtually out of nowhere, and most viewers had no expectations for the directors of Arrested Development. But deliver they did.…

Review: IRON MAN 3
Arguably the most polarizing installment in the MCU up to this point, Iron Man 3 is Shane Black’s vision of a superhero movie. And the central reason it is so polarizing is because of that Mandarin twist that occurs during the halfway point of the movie. While some found that twist to be a genius subversion of expectations, others, especially comic readers looking forward to the Mandarin getting accurately portrayed on the big screen, hated that the Ben Kingsley villain wound up simply being a punchline. Guy Pearce’s Aldrich Killian is the real central villain of the picture. Where do I stand on this movie? Let’s find out. Cue the music. Iron…

Review: THE AVENGERS (2012)
The Avengers (2012) Written by: Joss Whedon Story by: Joss Whedon and Zak Penn Directed by: Joss Whedon So if you’ve been reading my reviews, and since I’ve seen the site stats I know you haven’t, you’d know I tend to open these movie reviews with a question. Usually a question about the nature of sequels and make no mistake, Avengers is a sequel. But this time I’m skipping the question. I’m not a fan of Joss Whedon. I think he’s a one trick pony; if you want a story where evil old men menace an overly-sexualized underage girl and everyone sounds like what a middle-aged man thinks…

Review: CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER
A superhero film set in during World War II, a hero with a big heart, and the drive to help anyone that he can. In a nutshell that’s what I love about Captain America: The First Avenger. I would stop there, but I can’t end this review in just 37 words. The First Avenger tells us the story of Steve Rodgers (Chris Evans), a man who wants to “help the little guy”. He tries to enlist in the Army and fight in the war, but he’s too frail, sickly, and weak to do anything. Luckily, he gets a chance; a chance at being the world’s first Super Soldier. He becomes…
