How Legendary Pictures Can #ContinueTheMonsterVerse After GODZILLA VS. KONG
Legendary Pictures successfully began an American-based Godzilla franchise in 2014, with its first film starring the iconic monster. The movie began the MonsterVerse, a shared cinematic universe that includes other monsters. It continued with 2017’s Kong: Skull Island (which rebooted King Kong) and 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters (which also featured King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan). This has all led up to the release of the new film Godzilla vs. Kong, which pits the two titans against each other in a clash of the ages. Pika Pika! New DETECTIVE PIKACHU Trailer Released
Warner Bros. has dropped a new theatrical trailer for Legendary‘s live action Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu. The film stars Ryan Reynolds as the voice of the titular character. In the movie, Pikachu teams up with former Pokemon trainer Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) to help him find his father, and to discover a greater threat. The trailer is full of new footage, giving us a look at the various Pokemon, including the introduction of a major fan-favorite. Check it out below, and stay tuned for more as we have it. AQUAMAN and DETECTIVE PIKACHU Sequels Are In Development
Warner Bros. is coming off of a successful 2018 that ended with one of the studio’s biggest hits yet, DC’s Aquaman. The studio is bound to have another eventful year in 2019. Among the films slated are Detective Pikachu, Legendary’s live action Pokemon movie that has generated much buzz. Now, it looks like sequels to both movies are in development. According to Deadline, WB has begun development on a sequel to Aquaman. The studio hopes to bring back director James Wan, who will only return depending on the script’s quality. First DETECTIVE PIKACHU Trailer Released
The idea of a live action Pokemon is something I’ve personally been against from day one. The reason for that is I’ve always felt the design doesn’t work for CGI which would be needed. So you can understand my reaction when I’ve heard the news about a live-action adaptation of the spin-off game of Detective Pikachu. Flash forward to today, and we have the first trailer to the movie. Had this been an animated film, it would have sold me right on the go. However, this movie is not animated. Legendary’s DETECTIVE PIKACHU Movie Switches to Warner Bros.
A couple years ago, Legendary Pictures and The Pokémon Company struck a deal to create live action movies based on the Pokémon franchise. The first installment is Detective Pikachu, a live action/CGI hybrid based on the recent video game. Ryan Reynolds will voice the titular Pokémon, with Justice Smith, Ken Watanabe, and Rita Ora also in the cast. Now, the film has a new distributor. Live Action GUNDAM Movie in the Works at Legendary Pictures
Gundam is one of the most popular sci-fi franchises in history, serving as a critical part of the mecha genre. It began in 1979 as the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam, before spawning more shows, manga, and even an appearance in Ready Player One. Now, the franchise is heading to the big screen for real.
