Box Office Updates: Aquaman and Deadpool Go Into the Spider-Verse

    December 17, 2018 / 0 Comments

Two superhero movies took on the domestic box office this week, while another continues its reign overseas and in preview screenings. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse opened with $35.4 million this weekend – a solid start for the universally acclaimed animated movie. The film took in another $21 million overseas, bringing its worldwide debut to $56.4 million. Into the Spider-Verse was produced with a $90 million budget (not counting marketing), so it should easily turn a profit, especially with strong word-of-mouth and holiday legs. Once Upon a Deadpool opened last week, and it has taken in nearly $4 million over five days. The film is a PG-13 recut for Deadpool 2,…

    Review: SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE

    December 2, 2018 / 1 Comment

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is an animated film starring well, Spider-Man, but not the Spider-Man you’re used to. This film stars Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) a high schooler who gets bitten by a radioactive spider. Now, Peter Parker (Jake Johnson) has been Spider-Man for 10 years. He’s Miles’ inspiration for becoming the second Spider-Man. Without getting into spoilers, the two share a bond that sticks with you for the rest of the film. While Peter is fighting Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) a portal to alternate realities opens, leading to more spider-people coming to Miles’ world. From here we’re introduced to Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) aka Spider-Woman, Spider-Man Noir (Nicholas Cage), Peni Parker…

SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE Tracking for $30-40 Million Opening Weekend

    November 21, 2018 / 0 Comments

We’re just a few weeks away from the release of Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which is already generating very positive buzz. Now, the animated movie has hit the tracking boards. Right now, Into the Spider-Verse is on track to open anywhere between $30 and $40 million. The movie’s production budget is currently unknown, but these are some pretty solid numbers. They should only go higher as we get closer to its release date. Either way, it should get in a good opening before the next week is dominated by Aquaman and Bumblebee. Another thing to consider: Very few animated superhero films get a theatrical release. Most of them, primarily…
