Fox Cancels LUCIFER After Three Seasons
Television networks are currently announcing renewals or cancellations for their shows, as the 2018-2019 schedules come together. One network is Fox, which has already cancelled several shows, including Brooklyn-Nine-Nine. The latest decision marks the end of fan-favorite Vertigo adaptation Lucifer. AMC’s The Walking Dead is heading into its ninth season this fall, and the show is adding two new regulars to the cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actors Avi Nash and Callan McAuliffe have been upgraded to series regulars. The two joined the show as Siddiq and Alden, respectively, during season eight. The Walking Dead returns in October with new showrunner Angela Kang. HBO is bringing Watchmen back to life, and this news suggests it’ll happen sooner than later. LUKE CAGE Faces a Formidable New Enemy in Season 2 Trailer
Netflix has released a new trailer for Luke Cage season two, which releases next month. The second installment of the Marvel series sees Luke becoming a celebrity in Harlem, due to his heroics. However, he will be challenged by a powerful new villain who can take Luke down without breaking a sweat. The trailer gives us a first look at this new villain, Misty Knight’s new arm, and much more. DC Announces Streaming Service Title, Adds SWAMP THING Series to Slate
DC Entertainment has announced some preliminary details on its streaming service, which will include a slew of exclusive original shows. The service is called DC Universe, and it promises to be the “ultimate” membership for DC fans. Called a unique digital experience, DC Universe will give fans unlimited access to its original shows. Netflix Renews JESSICA JONES for Season 3
Marvel premiered the second season of its acclaimed series Jessica Jones last month on Netflix. The show is arguably the most acclaimed Marvel/Netflix series yet. So, it shouldn’t be surprising to hear that season three is a go. Netflix has announced (via THR) that Jessica Jones has been renewed for a third season. The CW has officially announced that ten of its shows have been picked up for new seasons. These include six comic book adaptations. Arrow, the show that launched the network’s Arrowverse has been renewed for a seventh season. Midseason hit Black Lightning, based on the DC comic, will be back for a second season.
