DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW “Marooned” Review
Featuring the CWverse‘s first excursion into space, Marooned unfortunately did not offer much improvement from Legends Of Tomorrow‘s last episode. Receiving a distress call from a fellow Time-Masters’ ship named Acheron, the team opts to offer assistance and head for outer space, if only to gain a programming update for Gideon will which help them track Savage. Once in contact with the Acheron, the team finds it seized by pirates. Rip, Jax, and Rory are captured in short order while the rest of the crew is left to fend for themselves on the Wave Rider. The episode reiterated Rip’s guilt over failing to save his family while shedding further light on…

DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW “Star City 2046” Review
Star City 2046 contains what is most likely Legends Of Tomorrow‘s most interesting story concept, making it a shame that the execution heavily falters. After returning to Star City, 30 years after they had departed, in the last episode, the team finds the city in a state that can only be described as Escape From New York mixed with The Dark Knight Returns. The entire city is more or less a massive slum, overrun with gangs led by Deathstroke (Grant Wilson), and Team Arrow, aside from a retired Oliver Queen and his successor Connor Hawke (aka John Diggle Jr) have been killed. While a story in this vein is not the…

Villainy Incorporated: Five Villains for WONDER WOMAN
As part of our celebration of Batman v Superman, we turn our attention towards the future of DC Films and Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot has a long journey in front of her as she films her first solo film and will shift right into production of Justice League Part One come April but she doesn’t have to do it alone. After all, a heroine is only as good as her villains and so the other day Paul dragged me out of my Patty Spivot shrine, slapped me around and tasked me with coming up with five villains to face off with the Princess of Themyscira on the Silver Screen. Now,…

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Exits SANDMAN Movie Due to Creative Differences
For the past couple years, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been attached to produce, direct and star in Warner Bros.’ Sandman adaptation. The movie, based on the iconic Neil Gaiman comic, has more recently moved over to New Line Cinema, along with other Vertigo adaptations. And just yesterday, we learned that a new screenwriter was tackling the script. Unfortunately, it looks like Gordon-Levitt won’t be bringing this story to the big screen after all. In a lengthy Facebook post, the actor-director revealed that he has dropped out of Sandman. Essentially, he says that he does not see eye-to-eye with New Line on how to adapt the source material – aka, the classic…

FEATURE: Five Villains We’d Love to See in MAN OF STEEL 2
Back in 2014, Warner Bros. confirmed that a standalone sequel to Man of Steel was in the works, with a release by 2020 promised. Little else is known about the movie, but rumors suggest that he could team up with Supergirl to take on Brainiac and Bizarro. But when the movie does come together, who should be the villain? Superman has a slew of iconic enemies who deserve the big screen treatment. Only a small handful of these characters – Lex Luthor, General Zod, etc. – have been adapted to film. But the DC Extended Universe will change that, with Superman villains like Doomsday on the way. Below, I’ve compiled…

New Screenwriter Hired for Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s SANDMAN Movie
A few years ago, Warner Bros. put a film adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s acclaimed Vertigo comic, Sandman, into development. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is attached to direct and star in the film, while David Goyer wrote a story treatment. Jack Thorne was hired to write the script two years ago. More recently, the project relocated to WB’s New Line Cinema. And now, another scribe has been recruited. According to The Hollywood Reporter, frequent horror writer Eric Heisserer will write a new draft of Sandman. Heisserer’s credentials include Final Destination 5, remakes of The Thing and A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the upcoming The Conjuring 2. New Line hopes that Sandman will spawn…

Frank Miller Explains Why Darren Aronofsky’s BATMAN: YEAR ONE Film Never Happened
Back in 2000, Warner Bros. was developing a Batman reboot based loosely on the Batman: Year One graphic novel. Darren Aronofsky was set to direct, while the comic’s writer, Frank Miller, penned the script. However, the studio ended up passing on the project. The script was heavily criticized by fans for being a very unfaithful adaptation of the source material. More info can be found here. But why didn’t Batman: Year One happen? In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Frank Miller explains that, essentially, the film was “too dark” in the eyes of WB. Aronofsky’s vision of Batman was even darker than Miller’s – and Miller is the author…

More Details on the R-Rated “Ultimate Edition” of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
A few weeks ago, it was revealed that an R-rated directors cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was coming to home video later this year. Dubbed the “Ultimate Edition,” this news spawned much discussion, both positive and negative. We learned yesterday that the cut will contain more brutal fight scenes, as well as additional DC movie references. And now, these reasons have been elaborated on. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, star Ben Affleck says that he understands both sides of the PG-13 vs. R argument. He wants to take his kids to a PG-13 film, but he himself likes to watch R movies. Well, the Ultimate Edition of Batman…
