PRINCESS MONONOKE Retrospective Review
In the 14th century, the harmony that humans, animals and gods have enjoyed begins to crumble. The protagonist, young Ashitaka – infected by an animal attack, seeks a cure from the deer-like god Shishigami. In his travels, he sees humans ravaging the earth, bringing down the wrath of wolf god Moro and his human companion Princess Mononoke. Her attempts to broker peace between her and the humans brings only conflict. Official synopsis of Princess Mononoke When it comes to directors, everyone has a favorite. For some of you it’s Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) , others, it is the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Infinity War). For me, it’s director Hayao Miyazaki –…

We have a couple of director updates in the world of comic book movies. Marvel Studios‘ Shang-Chi film has recruited a director as it hits the fast track. Meanwhile, the controversial Red Sonja reboot has apparently dropped its director. Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12) has signed on to direct Shang-Chi for Marvel. Cretton was chosen over directors Justin Tipping (Dear White People), Alan Yang (Master of None), and Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones). Dave Callaham is writing the script. Hopefully, this means that Miller’s solo film will finally see the light of day; after many years of being stuck in the speed force. Outside of Ezra Miller, Kiersey Clemons is still attached to the role of Iris West, with Johnathon Goldstein and John Francis Daley still onboard for directing and writing duties. The Flash production date is supposedly scheduled for…

Review: THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY Season 1
The Umbrella Academy follows a family of eccentric superheroes that reunite when their adopted father, Sir Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore); who has suddenly and mysteriously passes away. When I first saw the trailer for The Umbrella Academy, I did not know what to expect. I knew it was adapted a Dark Horse comic created by Gerard Way, the former lead singer of My Chemical Romance. When I saw the trailer, it gave me the feeling that I was witnessing something odd. Ten episodes later, and I think I’ve found my new favorite Netflix show. While I have seen Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy is not your average TV show. This…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×15- “King Shark vs Gorilla Grodd”
The Flash (5×15)- “King Shark vs Gorilla Grodd” Written by: Eric Wallace & Lauren Certo Directed by: Stefan Pleszczynski Let’s get this out of the way right off the bat: This was another filler episode. However, we should all be aware of that by now considering the cost prohibitive nature of Gorilla Grodd episodes. A CGI Gorilla just can’t be a big part of this series with the budget restraints of having this show on the CW, no matter how much I’d like him to be. But I have to give credit to the producers; every time they bring Grodd in it’s as a big deal. They also do a…

The most important thing to know about "Ocean to Ocean" is that "Ocean to Ocean" is not a song: "Ocean to Ocean" is freedom.

Last week it was reported that Will Smith would not be reprising his role as Deadshot in the upcoming James Gunn-directed sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad, due to ‘scheduling conflicts’ (gotta film that Bright sequel). Now The Hollywood Reporter, has revealed that no other than Idris Elba is in talks to replace Will Smith as the assassin turned anti-hero. Elba was allegedly Gunn’s first and only choice for the role after Smith walked, and last Friday had a meeting with the actor that went well. The Suicide Squad will feature a primarily new cast aside from a few returnees, one of those hopefully being Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. There are…
