Welcome to a special SDCC-themed installment of TV News Bits. Here, we’ll be going over new characters joining Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, a hit Marvel show’s renewal, and two other shows promoting characters to series regulars. Supergirl Adds 3 to Cast At San Diego Comic-Con, Supergirl announced (via KryptonSite) the addition of three characters, following Sam Witwer‘s casting. Actress Nicole Maines will play Nia Nal/Dreamer, TV’s first transgender superhero. Nia is a new addition to the CatCo reporting team, and she must embrace her destiny as the superhero Dreamer. THE FLASH Confirms Cicada as the Big Bad for Season 5
A few months back, it was rumored that Cicada is going to be the main villain of The Flash‘s fifth season. Now, at San Diego Comic-Con, it’s official. The CW announced during the show’s SDCC panel that Cicada will be the next big Flash villain, played by actor Chris Klein. Per the press release, Cicada is described as a “…grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans, Cicada now seeks to exterminate the epidemic – one metahuman at a time.” While he won’t be as much of a cult leader as he is in the comics, he will prove to be a real challenge for Barry and the team.…

ARROW Casts The Longbow Hunters, Sets Returning Villains for Season 7
A lot of new season seven details are announced at Arrow‘s San Diego Comic-Con panel this year. In addition to the trailer, The CW confirmed that new and returning villains are coming to the show. As teased in the season six finale, the Longbow Hunters are coming to Arrow next year. The group, a trio of deadly assassins, are recruited by Ricardo Diaz to exact vengeance on Oliver and his team. The lineup here consists of Red Dart, Kodiak, and Silencer. In addition, Oliver will be facing old villains while in prison. San Diego Comic-Con 2018 TV Trailer Round-Up
A lot of television shows held their San Diego Comic-Con panels yesterday, and there, first-look trailers for the new seasons were introduced. Here, we have a round-up of all the trailers – all five DC shows on The CW, plus Fox’s X-Men drama The Gifted. Kara deals with the rise of Agent Liberty (and gets a new suit?!) on Supergirl. Oliver Queen deals with his life in jail on Arrow. The team recruits John Constantine on Legends of Tomorrow. A new mutant age rises on The Gifted. THE FLASH: Danielle Panabaker to Make Her Directorial Debut
Danielle Panabaker will be have two chairs in a The Flash episode this season. One, her typical actor’s chair, and two, her director chair! That’s right everybody, Danielle will direct her first episode of The Flash in an upcoming episode (TBD – or at least, we don’t know which episode yet), and technically its her first time stepping into the director’s spotlight ever. Sam Witwer Joins SUPERGIRL Season 4 in Series Regular Role
Casting is underway for new characters on The CW’s Arrowverse, including Supergirl. Today, the show (which is entering its fourth season) has added a major new player to the cast. LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Won’t Be Part of the Next Arrowverse Crossover
Fans were excited to hear that this year’s annual Arrowverse crossover event will center around Batwoman and Gotham City. In fact, Batwoman is going to be the star of her own series soon. However, it looks like one show won’t be part of the event. According to Entertainment Weekly, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is sitting out this year’s crossover. The event will consist of Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash. No reason why Legends will be absent. It’s also unclear if this rules out any Legends characters in the event or just its episode that week. BATWOMAN TV Series in the Works
Batwoman is coming to The CW! But wait. You’re confused. You already knew this from reading this article HERE? There’s more! We’re getting a Batwoman TV series! Hollywood Reporter has the details, but we’ll give you the gist. The series will star Kate Kane, DC Comic’s prominent LGBTQ superhero, street fighter extraordinaire, working on overcoming her demons. Kate will still be officially introduced in the crossover in December, but Greg Berlanti and Caroline Dries(Vampire Diaries, Smallville) are working on writing some scripts for the character if The CW should choose to greenlight a series. Vixen to Return for CW Seed’s FREEDOM FIGHTERS: THE RAY
Megalyn Echikunwoke is set to head to CW Seed’s Freedom Fighters: The Ray. She will play the multiverse counterpart to her current role on CW Seed, present day Vixen. Megalyn is currently the voice of present day Vixen on CW Seed, and she has played the same role in live action on The CW’s Arrow.
