Mystery Marvel Film Moves Up to February 2021
Disney previously set three release dates for unknown Marvel Studios movies in the year 2021. One one of the given dates was July 30th. Well, whatever movie that is, it now looks like we’ll be seeing it sooner. As part of its latest schedule shakeup (via Box Office Mojo), the untitled Marvel movie is now scheduled for release on February 12th, 2021. We don’t really know anything more beyond that. But considering how successful Black Panther was in the February slot this year, I would bet money on this date being the inevitable sequel. It’s Official: Joaquin Phoenix Will Play The Joker
A while back, it was reported that Joaquin Phoenix was in talks to star in Warner Bros.’ Joker origin movie, which will kick off a slate of non-canon DC movies. While sites suggested that Phoenix was likely to close the deal, the actor has approached multiple comic book roles before turning them down. However, it’s now official. WB has confirmed that Phoenix will play The Joker in the movie, which will kick off production in September. Megalyn Echikunwoke is set to head to CW Seed’s Freedom Fighters: The Ray. She will play the multiverse counterpart to her current role on CW Seed, present day Vixen. Megalyn is currently the voice of present day Vixen on CW Seed, and she has played the same role in live action on The CW’s Arrow. AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Blu-Ray Details Officially Announced
Avengers: Infinity War is the cinematic event of the year, uniting about two dozen Marvel heroes in the ultimate battle to save the universe. The film grossed over $2 billion worldwide, and it has achieved the biggest opening weekend in history. Now, the movie is heading to home video. Marvel has announced that Avengers: Infinity War is hitting digital platforms on July 31st, before arriving on Blu-Ray, DVD and 4K on August 14th. Pre-production on J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode IX is well underway, with filming set to start this month. Jeremy Renner Set to Star in SPAWN
Jeremy Renner will be joining Jamie Foxx and Todd McFarlane in the Blumhouse adaption of Spawn. Deadline reports that Renner will be playing Detective “Twitch” Williams, while Foxx will be playing Al Simmons. The budget has yet to be determined (it’ll likely be in the $10-12 million range), but McFarlane is hopeful these casting choices will help it, as well as “spawn” a franchise. Poster, Villain Revealed for DRAGON BALL SUPER Movie
Close to the end of Dragon Ball Super, knowledge of a new animated movie was released. TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES Tracking to Open Below $20 Million
Teen Titans GO! To the Movies has hit box office tracking two weeks out. While it’s still early days, the animated movie is currently on track for a pretty small opening. DEADPOOL 2: THE SUPER DUPER CUT Announced for Home Video
It was previously confirmed that Deadpool 2 will get an extended cut on home video, featuring 13 minutes of new footage. More recently, an early screening of the new cut was announced for San Diego Comic-Con next week. And now, Fox has made the big announcement. Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut will hit digital stores on August 7th, before arriving on Blu-Ray and 4K on August 21st.
