RETROSPECTIVE REVIEW: DAREDEVIL Season 1
When I first watched Season 1 of Daredevil, three things struck me. The first was the high degree of violence. The MCU up to this point had consisted of adventure violence, where nobody was badly hurt. But Daredevil opens with Karen Page literally kneeling in a pool of blood. Dark imagery that sets the tone of the whole show. Second thing that struck me was how Daredevil is primarily a villain’s show. The character of Wilson Fisk dominates everything. He is a powerful tour de force, and the show is always at its sharpest when he’s around. I’m reminded of his Good Samaritan speech near the end of the season.…

DC UNIVERSE – Is It Worth It?
DC Universe is the one stop shop for all things in the world of DC Comics. Or at least it’s supposed to be. The streaming service has a ton of comics, movies, and shows that will make both old and new fans happy. That being said, it does suffer from a few major problems. Is it worth its lofty price tag or should you skip it entirely? We’ve pushed DCU to the brink this past month, making sure that it’s worth every penny. As of the writing of this review, DCU is available on Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, IOS, Android devices, and of course worldwide web (assuming the US…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 5×01- “Nora”
The Flash (4×01)- “Nora” Written by: Todd Helbing & Sam Chalsen Directed by: David McWhirter HEY! Long time no see! Well maybe not that long, but it does feel like it’s been a while! The leaves are turning, the dew has turned to frost and Season 5 of the Flash is getting started. Season 5 is a high risk/high reward season in the life of any show. Some shows like Deep Space Nine had a lot of their best episodes in Season Five. Other shows… Kill off their best character… In favor of creepy incest pairings and dragons and you NEVER, EVER forgive anyone involved because that son of…

Review: TITANS Season 1 Episode 1
Hopes and expectations are difficult things. There’s a joke that the best comic books are the ones you read when you’re thirteen, and I think that extends to all media. Especially nowadays when nostalgia is the shorthand to connect with an audience, and the franchises we loved as kids return for Box office Gold. The Teen Titans animated TV series left its mark on western animation, and I feel it’s impossible to talk about Titans without feeling its fingerprints. The leadup to the premiere of Titans was marked by reactions by the fans who clearly have a love of these characters. It is very hard to come to Titans with…

Review: VENOM – A Turd in the Wind
Sony thought it was a good idea to make a Spider-Man world without Spider-Man. That philosophy is terribly flawed. But here at WOBAM Entertainment, we were willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. As Sony hoped to create their own MCU separate from Disney, they pushed forward with Venom. What is this jumbled mess? Is it worth seeing? I’m going to break it all down with some minor spoilers. So, if you don’t want to know anything now is your queue to leave. But if you fancy, we do have a Spider-Man podcast linked below. And feel free to check out more of our 7 Days of Venom here. If…

Comic Review: VENOM: LETHAL PROTECTOR (1993)
While Venom started out as a villain to Spider-Man, that changed in 1993 with the release of his first solo comic. Venom: Lethal Protector sees Eddie Brock and the Symbiote leave New York to move to San Francisco, where they face a group of super-powered mercenaries. They wind up in the Life Foundation, where they and Spider-Man team up against five other Symbiotes: Scream, Riot, Phage, Lasher, and Agony. It has been said that the Venom movie takes influence from Lethal Protector, and right away, it’s easy to see how. From the Life Foundation’s role to the San Francisco setting to multiple Symbiotes, the two already have a lot in…

Film Review: Bleach (2018)
Just like how we in the west love to adapt comic books, Japan loves to adapt their mangas. So I guess it was a matter of time that Bleach got the treatment. For those who are unaware, Bleach is a manga that started in 2001, created by Tite Kubo. The story follows the human Ichigo Kurosaki, whose life changes when the soul reaper Rukia visits his home. In the near future I will be covering the Bleach anime for WOBAM, and I’m aiming to start around Halloween for that. With that said, let’s start the movie review. Sweet Christmas. After the fiasco that was the Attack on Titan movies, as…

Review: DRAGON BALL HEROES Episode 3
I don’t know if I should laugh or not considering what I wrote in my episode two review, which you can find HERE. There, I mention how every episode should premiere closer to each other, and after that, Toei Animation waits, about two months, instead of the two weeks that we had last time. I know that you probably won’t read this Toei, but if your main focus is on Dragon Ball Super Broly, why didn’t you wait with this then? It’s quite clear that their main focus is on the movie, considering the animation is for this episode is BAD. Some scenes reminded me of when Berus fought Goku…

Review: VIDEO GIRL AI
Youta, who is the stereotypical loser in the classroom, find his life changed when a video girl from a VHS tape he rents comes to life. Raise your hand if you even knew of this property. I see a few in the back. Anyone else? Hmmmm… I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Anyways. I have had this anime on my radar for quite some time, and I’m glad that I finally was able to watch it. Why? There is a lot to talk about when it comes to this property. At first glance, it might come out as a generic, romantic anime. However, once you look at it closely, you’ll…

Review: IRON FIST Seasons 1 and 2
Since I did Luke Cage seasons 1 and 2, I thought I might as well do both seasons of Iron Fist considering the second season is out now. Iron Fist season 1 is one of the worst shows of “television” I’ve seen in years. It feels like a generic Dallas clone with some supernatural elements to it. The fight scenes (which you would argue is a big key to an Iron Fist adaptation) is downright [insert censor beep here]. It also has some of the worst written lines I ever head. However, the worst aspect of the first season is the lead himself. I pulled my hair in frustration on more…
