AQUAMAN Officially Begins Production
After years of development and preparation, production on the next DC film is now underway in Australia. Via Twitter, director James Wan confirmed the start of principal photography on Aquaman (working title “Ahab”). Filming will continue until some time later this year. John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn Won’t Return to the Arrowverse Next Season
Malcolm Merlyn, played by John Barrowman, has been a key player in the Arrowverse from the beginning. The actor signed a deal last year to be a series regular across all three shows; Wentworth Miller and Katie Cassidy signed similar deals. Barrowman was the big bad of Arrow‘s first season, popped up a couple times in the second season, and was a series regular in seasons three and four. A couple months ago, Warner Bros. confirmed that Matt Reeves will be directing The Batman, taking over from star Ben Affleck. Funko Unveils JUSTICE LEAGUE Movie Pop! Figures
Recently, Warner Bros. launched the “Join the League” viral site, which allows readers to access exclusive content and more from the Justice League movie. Yesterday, the site debuted our first proper look at Funko’s upcoming Pop! line for the film. The Pop! figures will hit stores on August 12th. The figures are of Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg, and, yes, Superman. DC to Launch Digital Streaming Service Spearheaded by YOUNG JUSTICE Season 3 and TITANS
DC Entertainment made a very exciting announcement today. The company is teaming up with Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group to launch a new digital streaming service, dedicated exclusively to DC. Launching in 2018, the direct-to-consumer service will be home to DC-related content, including original shows. For this venture, DC is reviving two television projects: the live action Titans and the previously announced third season of Young Justice. Titans will be written by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns, and Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti. The three will produce the series alongside Sarah Schechter.
