David S. Goyer Talks CONSTANTINE Pilot, Keeping It Close To The Comics, Characters And More
David S. Goyer is currently Warner Bros.’ go-to writer for the studio’s DC adaptations. Known for penning Man of Steel and co-writing Batman Begins, he also wrote the initial draft for Batman vs. Superman and is contracted to script Justice League. In the meantime, Goyer conceived the story for NBC’s Constantine pilot with Daniel Cerone, who wrote the script. Speaking with I Am Rogue, Goyer discusses the small screen adaptation of John Constantine. The nominees for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards were announced this week, and last summer’s Man of Steel nabbed a spot in one category. ONE TREE HILL’s Robert Buckley Cast In The CW’s iZOMBIE Pilot
The CW’s latest DC pilot, iZombie, has added another player to its cast. It has been announced that 666 Park Avenue and One Tree Hill actor Robert Buckley has landed a part in the Vertigo adaptation. He will play Major, who is described as “a seemingly perfect former college football player-turned-environmental engineer. Major was recently engaged to a woman named Liv, with whom he’s trying to remain friends despite still being in love with her.” Liv is said to be the protagonist of the pilot/potential series. A few months ago, The Vampire Diaries actor Steven McQueen shared his interest in playing Nightwing on The CW’s Arrow. After the premiere of this week’s stunning episode of Arrow, a promo for the March 19th episode, “Suicide Squad”. One of the shots offered a glimpse at an ARGUS prisoner with pale skin and blonde hair tied up in ponytails. This immediately led to speculation that the character was Harley Quinn. This makes sense, as Quinn is currently a member of the Suicide Squad in the New 52. THE FLASH Pilot Casts Patrick Sabongui As Central City Police Captain ‘David Singh’
With production on The Flash pilot underway, we have another casting announcement. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fringe and 300 actor Patrick Sabongui has landed the role of David Singh in the planned Arrow spin-off. Singh is the police captain of Central City PD. His role in the pilot is said to be as a guest star, but if Flash is ordered to series (and it probably will be), Singh may become a recurring character. First, Zack Snyder was asked at the 300: Rise of an Empire premiere if we were indeed getting our first look at Ben Affleck suited up as Batman soon. With Matt Ryan set to play John Constantine in NBC’s take on the DC/Vertigo icon, we have three more additions to the cast of the television pilot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harold Perrineau (Lost), Lucy Griffiths (True Blood), and Charles Halford (True Detective) have joined the adaptation, which is targeting a spot on NBC’s Fall 2014 schedule. Perrineau will play Manny, “an authoritative angel assigned to watch over Constantine.
