A Batgirl movie was announced last year when Joss Whedon was hired to write and direct. However, two months ago, Whedon dropped out, saying that he couldn’t crack the story. Around that same time, it was reported that Batgirl would go on the backburner as DC shifts focus to its A-list heroes. However, the film is moving forward with a new writer.
